I just got back from my HSG. It did not go well at all! First of all, it was excruciatingly painful. It was so bad that I was screaming and begging my doctor to stop. It felt like the dye was burning me. I was expecting some mild cramping, but this was so unbelievably horrible. I was lucky enough to have a good friend come in with me who works at the hospital. She helped talk me through the pain and held my hand. I would've been so much worse off if she wasn't there. Anyway, so not only did the procedure hurt way more than I ever expected, but there is something "not right" with my left tube. It is open, but the doctor said it doesn't look normal. My right tube is fine. I may have to go see a specialist in Portland (3 hours away) to have a laparoscopy. I don't know for sure yet about that. My doctor is going to send the pics down there and have them analyze them. They may say it's fine or they may say I have to go down there. This is going to cost me a fortune, but I don't care. I will do what it takes. My doctor was super sweet and did her best to comfort me. I was just laying there crying because I'm broken. She was reassuring and saying that I'm not broken and I'm still young. I was like "I'm not young! I'm 38!" and she said, "well, you look 30"...which of course made me smile and thank her. I still haven't gotten the results from my BF's SA yet so I'm really worried that those will come back bad and both of us have issues, which will make this even harder. Oh, and now I'm bleeding which just makes it that much worse.
I'm going to take a couple of benedryl and drink a glass of wine and spend the rest of the day napping on the couch and watching Jerseylicious.

At least you did it and it's over and you know what you have to do... Hope it all works out and that your BF's SA comes back with good numbers....

Oh hun, I'm so sorry it was painful! I was out for mine, they did it the same time as the laproscopy.
Take it easy today. You might want to throw in a tylenol too.

I took an 800mg ibuprofen an hour before...I can't imagine what it would've been like if I hadn't taken anything! If I have to go through it again, I'm going to request morphine! That was the worst pain I've ever been through...even getting breast implants wasn't that bad, although that pain lasted a couple of weeks.
Isn't Jerseylicious the best? Are you team Olivia or team Tracy? I'm team Olivia all the way. I LOVE her!! She is hysterical!! I also really want Gigi and Frankie to get back together! And, when I have kids, I want Filippo to be my manny! LOL!!

I can't imagine... They are in there for a long time too! (Sorry.. but they are!)
Team Olivia!!!!!!!!!!! Tracy always seems to be the one that starts things but then plays it off like she's the victim... I think it would be sooooo cute if Frankie and Gigi got back together.... Frankie's mom would be thrilled! Haa Haa Haa "manny"... I forgot about that one... He's adorable.....

Thanks Sam! I totally wish I'd been knocked out! From everything I've heard, it usually isn't that painful for women and I certainly don't want to scare anyone who is due to have one. I do think that my experience is not the norm. If it was, then they would've given me something really strong for the pain. The cramping right now isn't even that bad. It was when the dye was going through that hurt so bad. As soon as she stopped the dye, I was fine. I felt like such an idiot for crying and screaming so much. I'm sure I'll be a joy when I go into labor! LOL!

What's in there for a long time? The breast implants? They'd better be! They cost enough money! LOL!
Yay!! Another Olivia lover!! I think most people are team Olivia! You are so right about Tracy! She's awful! She's such a manipulative b***h! I love Frankie's parents! OMG, his mom is so adorable and they all love Gigi so much! Gigi is such a great person too. She hates the drama and tries so hard to not get caught in the middle of Olivia & Tracy. Did you see they're going to do a new show with Alexa? I think it's called "Glam Fairy" or something like that. I hate her and think she's a total nut job, but the show should be entertaining. Half the time, I don't know what the heck she's talking about.

I am so sorry you had so much pain. I had a lot of pain with mine also. Dh was in the room and that helped me. I just kept squeezing his had. The doctor that did mine said my right tube looked good but she wasn't sure about the left tube. She said my left tube kept on have spams so it was hard to get the dye through. I hope you feel better and get some time to relax on the couch.

Sarah I'm so sorry that it was so painful. You would think that your doctoro would have known how painful it was and given you something for the pain. I'm praying that your BF's SA comes back good. I'm so glad that you had your friend their with you. Did your doctor give you any idea how long you would have to wait to hear back from the specialists in Portland?
I hope you are able to relax today and get some rest.

Hope the specialist sees nothing wrong with the pictures that are sent down and you don't need a lap. Sorry it was so painful for you. Mine hurt pretty bad too I cried the whole time. HUGS! Feel better.

Big Hugs Sarah! I'm so sorry the procedure was painful for you. I've heard it is worse for women who have tube issues. My results were similar to yours. Some abnormality noted with the left tube. I expect the RE to order a lap after our first visit in a couple of weeks. Chin up sweetie...we CAN and WILL do this

Sarah I'm sorry you didn't get the results you were hoping for but maybe this is what you need to bring a sticky BFP. Sending lots of good vibes you way. ((HUGS))

oh Sarah i'm so sorry...i wonder if you have an allergy or sensitivity to the dye they used? Let's hope some good comes of the procedure especially if you had to suffer so much through it! HUGS
And you're not broken sweetie, this is just a small hurdle to overcome and one day very soon we'll all be celebrating your BFP!!

You ladies are so wonderful! Thank you so much for all the positive energy!! I'm feeling better today...like I'm ready to meet this head on. I have to start being more optimistic. I've decided to make an appointment for a Reiki session which will help my emotional well being, even if it does nothing physically. I had it done to my dog when he was dying of Cancer, and it really helped his quality of life. It certainly can't hurt. I'm hoping that the dye cleared everything out and my doctor even mentioned that there's a good chance of the HSG helping get women pregnant. Lara, I was thinking the same thing about some kind of sensitivity to the dye. It only hurt when she was pushing it through...I didn't even feel the catheter or her searching for my cervix...it was definitely the dye. I bled all day yesterday so maybe that was stuff getting cleared out. Stacey, I did some research and found that spasms in a tube are fairly common with HSG procedures so I hope that's all it was.
Thanks again for the well-wishes! I love you all!!

Ugh so sorry to hear about your bad experience, I had a really similar experience with my HSG yesterday (post coming soon lol). In fact, so much was similar about our procedures I was almost thinking I had already posted my story lol! I had a lot of cramping and pain when they put the dye in, but I'm not a screaming type person really so that helped. They also wouldn't even let my husband come in with me so that made it a lot harder. I really hope some positive comes from your results. Good luck this month, I'll be stalking to hear BFP news.

Wow! Your experience does sound just like mine! I was not expecting that kind of pain at all! I usually have a pretty high pain tolerance, but that was unbearable. Why wouldn't they let your DH go in with you? That totally stinks! I hope you get some positive results from yours!
My doctor definitely wants to refer me to the specialists. I'm going to meet with her next week to find out exactly why and what I can expect. It's definitely a huge blow.
