m/c & hcg question

Sept. 5 = had sex, got knocked up
Sept. 12 = more sex, spotting afterwards
Sept. 13 = found out i was pregnant
Sept. 19 = bleeding started
Sept. 20 & 22 = hcq blood draws look good, numbers doubled (52, 129)
Sept. 26 = hcg blood is only 171, bleeding ends and turns into light random spotting
Sept. 27 = hcg blood is 135
Sept. 28 = hcg blood is now 145
Sept. 29 = u/s shows empty uterus, midwife diagnoses "complete abortion"

Okay. So that's my timeline of events. I'm supposed to go back this week whenever I feel like it and get my blood drawn again. In the meantime I've been doing a pregnancy test every other day to see if I still get a positive. I'm still getting positives. ARGH. My levels were never that high...shouldn't they drop relatively fast? The lines are still very strong, not at all faint. How long does it take to get to 0, or below 5??

Also, why the heck would my number go up slightly on the 28th, instead of continually down? Is this normal? Can it go down too slowly, and if so, what does that mean??

I'm thinking I'll go for the blood test later in the week, maybe Thursday or Friday, to hopefully give it a chance to go down.

I am eager to start TTC again, but my body isn't cooperating yet, apparently...because you can't ovulate again until hcg is under 5, right?

Your HCG should be 0 to 5 to be able to ovulate again... Each person reacts differently after a loss... I think mine was close to four weeks. Hopefully your body cooporates and you can start to TTC soon...

I'd insist on a repeat HCG.

It can take several weeks to go back down to 0. But they should be monitoring you especially since you are not bleeding.

I agree with Sam. The doctor should be doing follow up blood draws to check your hcg levels. Even though your numbers weren't that high it can take couple of weeks to go to 0.

Yea, I'm going to go later this week for another. I just thought it'd go down alot faster since it was never that high to begin with.

Patience is something I lack. I'm very impatient, and it feels like I've been dealing with this forever...even though I know it's not been *that* long.

I would call and have them watch you go down to 0. I know my plan was to test weekly until I got to 0. My first HCG was only a 6 the day my bleeding started so I didn't have long to go but I was still a 2 when it was drawn 6 days later. If the number doesn't go down they will possibly do a D&C to remove everything. Sorry you are going through all of this Julie!

I did another HPT today with 3rd pee of the day, not even concentrated...and the line is darker than it ever has been. ARGGGHH! All the other times I've tested I've used FMU and it's not been close to being this dark. I don't know what to make of this. Totally sucks. I might have to go do the hcg blood test tomorrow instead of waiting, to see what it is doing...this is going to drive me nuts. I seriously thought it would get lighter each day... I totally do not want a d&c at all, so I hope its not leftover tissue..they didn't see anything on u/s when I had that done last week...so hopefully it's not that.

I also did an OPK out of curiosity and that looks like a definite positive... but HCG in the system causes false positives with OPKs, right??

I would go get labs drawn to see what your number is. Maybe you were not as far along as you thought and that is why nothing was seen in the u/s

I don't think that's even possible. The only days we had sex the entire month of September were the 5th and the 12th. If there were still a viable pregnancy, I would have had to have ovulated a second time around the 12th while already pregnant...which is highly unlikely....

I would wait a week and have a repeat beta as well as ultrasound. Sometimes you could have a slow bean growing or it could have implanted later (even if you O'd when you think) ((HUGS)) I am so sorry your going through this.

The thing is though, we had sex on the 5th and I got my BFP on the 13th. So its really only a week's time..like, I had to have conceived initially between those dates.

I would totally be stoked if there was some kind of miracle and there's a baby growing...but I can't let myself even entertain that idea at this point... I can't let myself get my hopes up again, it's just too much stress.

Dang. I thought all my stressing would be done when I had the ultrasound and it showed nothing, and I had the dropping hcg. But now I am even more confused than ever since my lines are getting darker, not lighter.

Sorry if I am going on and on about this. I just obsess over things.

I had my blood draw again yesterday. They were checking it for hcg levels and progesterone. I figured someone would call me today with results.....but no luck so far. So I just tried calling the midwife's office....and...they're closed!!! Argh. Seriously? No one thought to call me and give me my results?

To top things off...after having no bleeding for a week...today I spotted some more bright red blood. Great. So I wanted to find out my results and see what's up with that and if I need to do any other kind of follow-up. I'm sooooo annoyed. I just want to be normal again and my HPTs are STILL coming back really dark.

Do you think I can call the lab and asked for my results, or do hospitals only give out the info via the doctor or CNM that requested it? Anyone know?? I'll go crazy if I have to wait til Monday for some info...

Took forever for my HCG levels to go down when I had losses.

For one, it went like this:

day 0 154
+ 7 days 55.4
+ 7 days 14.2
+ 12 days 4.3

For another:
day 0 197
+ 4 days 111
+ 7 days 31.5
+ 10 days 10.2
+ 7 days 7.9
+ 7 days 3

You might as well try the lab. The worst they can say is no. My guess is that it's a blind test so they don't know which result is yours.

I'm currently in the waiting game as well so I sympathize. I wish my body would just get back to baseline so I can start trying again.

im so annoyed. no one called me today. so i called the office at 4pm. they never got my lab results and cant find it in the computer. grrr! office manager said she would call the lab to see what happened and then call me back. well no one called back. ugh.

seriously. what else can go wrong now??

i want to know where i stand. im still getting super dark hpts and opks.
