I had an early miscarriage on Tuesday, at just 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I started with medium flow. Yesterday was heavy flow. And today is light flow. This is pretty similar to my typical AF, but I have had more clotting.

For those who have experienced an early miscarriage:
Was your next cycle pretty normal? I have noticed that my temps are still way higher than last cycle, but they are gradually decreasing. Should I expect my hormones to be out of whack and possibly have a longer cycle? I have plenty of OPKs, so I'm prepared to start using them as soon as the doctor gives the green light. (As sad as we are, DH and I really don't want to skip a cycle of trying.) I'm just wondering what to expect.

I am ss for your loss!!

Unfortunately, it is hard to say what to expect, however, your body may or may not go back to "normal". I did not have a natural m/c but rather a D&E, so my doc did a follow up appt to that and I was told to expect AF to show between 4 and 6 weeks after the procedure (basically like a typical cycle on the 4 week end), mine showed at 4 weeks and 1 day (I had my loss at almost 12 weeks). Your levels will slowly drop back down to 0, you can get a pg test to make sure your hcg levels have dropped if your doc is not requesting blood work for you. You will want to wait at least until you get AF for the first time (IMO) before TTC again, this will allow both you and your body to heal properly - most docs will say at least 2 cycles, but it varies. Once you get your AF, then you can judge better when to use the OPK's - I started at CD8...

Thanks for the response. I'm sorry for your loss, too.

I actually got my +blood test on Tuesday morning, and the miscarriage started Tuesday afternoon. I had a -HPT by the next morning (yesterday), and the bleeding is very light today. I'm assuming everything has passed as it should. The doctor had scheduled an ultrasound for me for this afternoon, when I was still pregnant. I talked to her when I started my miscarriage, and she said that I should still go to the ultrasound. So I'll be doing that this afternoon, and then my doctor will be calling me. She did mention that she might do a second beta draw, but I'm feeling pretty confident that everything is occurring naturally, especially since the HPT is clearly negative now.

I always try to look at the positive side of everything, and I am grateful that this happened so early in my first pregnancy. Thanks again for your response.

You are welcome and way to have a positive outlook, it can be hard at times, but sometimes you have to see the silver lining!

I am glad that your doc is being proactive and having things checked. They are probably making sure that everything has cleared and that there aren't any other issues going on. You will be TTC before you know it! Although, one day can seem like an eternity on this roller coaster!

Junie - I had a D&C with my first and it took me 4 weeks to get my period back afterwards. So it was basically like waiting for a normal cycle. My period was pretty much normal - not heavier or lighter than usual. I was also told to wait until I had had 1 normal cycle before trying again. I did and then tried again and miscarried again just a little earlier than you. That time I did go natural and it took me about 2 weeks before the bleeding was all done. My next cycle came right on time though and I actually didn't wait to try that time. I started using OPK's after the bleeding stopped and did try at ovulation. No luck for me that time, but I do feel like I bounced back better from the earlier one than the first which was around 9 weeks. Hopefully, it will not disrupt your cycle too much and you will be able to get back to TTC quickly.

So sorry for your loss Junie!
It took a while for me to get back to normal. You would probably have to do an ultrasound to make sure that all of the tissue has left so that there is no infection. Your HCG/Beta levels are still probably high so you would need to have your blood test to make sure it goes back to 0 or below 5.
Hope your body gets back to TTC.

((HUGS)) I am so very sorry for your loss. I wanted to tell you that I agree with the other ladies. It's really hard to say how your body will react after the loss. I have had many losses and I can't say that after any of them it has been the same it's always different. I hope your doctor gives you the go-ahead quickly. Please jump right into posting

I'm sorry for your loss! I don't have much advice, as I feel that I've healed fast, but my body has not really gotten back to the pre-loss normal completely yet - in terms of a regular and normal ovulation.
