After DH's first SA showed low numbers (50% of normal) but fine motility and quality he made an appt with a male fertility specialist. Finally had that appt last week (this guy is really hard to see) and he ordered a new SA (apparently he doesn't trust the original lab). The results were horrible. Numbers and motility were fine this time but there were 0% normal sperm. 0% Plus his bloodwork showed that several of his hormone levels were out of whack. From what I can find on Google, this combination appears to indicate testicular failure

Anyway, for reasons which remain a mystery to me this doctor mails you test results (via snail-mail) rather than calling you. And the letter indicated that he wants to do another SA in 3-4 weeks before talking about treatment options. So we have so many questions but will not get any answers for another month. For the first time I am beginning to wonder if I will ever get my rainbow baby

Big huge hugs hun! Please don't give up. There are treatments for men as well. In the mean time you could start him on some supplements and see if that helps for when he goes back.

Thanks Katie. The rational part of my brain knows this but a part of me just keeps mentally repeating that 0 normal sperm equals 0 chance of conceiving.

Do you think that maybe it was just a bad batch? Have your DH watch what he eats... Not sure what but stuff like Soy or other things that would decrease the sperm activity. Hope that the next test shows something more then 0%.... Thinking of you! Hugs....

I don't know that is one of my many questions I know they can vary but it so odd to me that last time his counts were very low but the abnormality % was normal and on this one (done like a month later) the counts are completely fine but abnormality is 100%. I don't know how much is a different lab (although theoretically same protocol) and how much is just different sample.

So sorry for the bad news. Maybe it just was a bad sample or the sample was tainted somehow. Hopefully the next test will have better results.

Good luck and don't give up hope.

It could have just been a bad batch. I definitely recommend the fertility blend it increased DH's good sperm by 20 million.

Hopefully by the next test things will have turned around.

I'm sorry you got such depressing results! I agree with the other ladies though that it could very well be it was a bad batch or maybe the lab messed things up. I hope you are able to get some answers soon and that the results are better next time.

Ditto the bad batch. Things happen and you can get a bad sample that somehow got messed up.

My husband was diagnosed with severe MFI. We were told by a horrible RE that they ONLY way we would get pregnant was with IVF. We blew thousands of dollars for her to screw up on all our treatments.

With that being said, my husband's motility was 15% supposedly with one test (he had multiple SA's), and we got him started on Clomid and the fertility blend, and it jumped to 95%! After we were told that we would never conceive naturally again (after our 2 losses together), we are now expecting. Do NOT give up hope. Sounds to me like a bunk test.
