I went in to see my doctor today to go over my HSG results and figure out my options. From her analysis, there actually seems to be something wrong with both tubes and she highly recommended that I go to the specialists. She said we can try 3 months of Clomid and IUI but obviously, that would be kind of a long shot right now. She also said that if I do get pregnant, she will monitor my levels and everything else extremely closely as she is afraid of the potential for a higher risk of ectopic pregnancy. Scary thoughts, but I appreciate that she is already thinking ahead of possible complications. I decided to start off by having a consultation with the specialists to see what they think. They may tell me my only chance is IVF. I hope it doesn't come to that, but it's a very real possibility. The good news is, obviously, I have already managed to get pregnant so it's not impossible...it's just much harder for me at this point. They are sending in the referral to the specialists and will call me to set up an appointment. I left there feeling really discouraged. I think part of me hoped she was going to say that she had double checked my HSG results and everything was fine. Oh well. I will just have to wait and see what the other place has to say.

Does she think both tubes are blocked? Because typically blocked tubes can be opened with a lap so I wouldn't necessarily think IVF would be your only option until they tried to open the tubes. I have one tube that appears to be blocked and if a couple of rounds of IUI don't work then I am going to do a lap. My RE actually wanted to do a couple of rounds with Clomid first before surgery which kind of surprised me to be honest.
HUGS sweetie! Hopefully the specialist is encouraging. Have you made an appt yet?

Sorry the appointment didn't deliver necessarily good news. But knowledge is always a good thing. I hope that your appointments with the specialists go really well and you'll be on the fast track to your rainbow baby!

Thanks so much for your support ladies! The problem is, she doesn't think they're blocked because the dye did come out the other end. But there are spots that don't look right and so who knows what it could be. I know the specialists will be able to get to the root of the problem. Adrienne, you are absolutely right about knowledge being a good thing. I am so glad I didn't wait to start getting tested!

HUGS Sarah...i'm sorry it sounds like there could be blockage. I'll just ditto that knowledge is always a good thing (even when it's less than positive)...now hopefully a specialist can address the blockage and help you avoid IVF. And even if IVF is in your future, I know some pretty amazing babies born from IVF I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that with answers & specialist intervention that your BFP is just around the corner

Sorry to hear about your appointment not going as hoped. I had an HSG this past cycle and I know how not fun they are and how badly you want everything to look ok, but you know it just doesn't. There is a lot they can do with only partially blocked tubes, including laparoscopy to fix them up if you are up for it and it is an option. I have one fully blocked tube from scar tissue, the other they said looks ok, but I have my doubts lol. Going to the specialists is just something that needs to be done sometimes. I made my appointment with a specialist for November 3rd, and while it was sad that I had to make the appointment, I'm excited to get some answers. I really hope you have your rainbow baby in your arms soon, one way or another.
