Are you named after anyone? Are there any family names that are used generation after generation?

My middle son's middle name is a family name going back 5+ generations!

My first name is Adrienne. My mom liked the name when she heard of Adrienne Barbeau, who was an actress in the show Maude in the 70s. My middle name is June, after my aunt. I have two sisters, and we all have the initials A.J.

The only name that runs in our family is George. My dad is an umpteenth generation of George. The sad thing, though, is that no one in my generation was named George (my dad had three daughters). I have thought about using the name (as a middle name) if I have a son.

However, that's complicated by the fact that my husband's name is carried on through his family. He is William Andrew III. I know he would like to carry on that tradition, but I'm not sold on the idea yet.

I'm kind of sorta named after my Great Grandpa- Samuel

We are set on using family names. CJ is the third Chester on my side.
DH's family has a lot of Johns (and the varying ways of spelling it), so many in fact we opted out of using it.

My middle name (Elise) is a derivative of my Mom's name (Elizabeth). My son's middle name (Earl) was my Dad's first name, and he was Earl the III on his side of the family. My brother's middle name is also Earl. Josiah's initials are JE, and my Dad's were EJ. If we have a daughter in the future, her initials will be EJ (Elianna Joy) in honor of my Dad (he died of cancer when I was pregnant with my son). If we have another son, his middle name will be my DH's middle (Anthony).

I'm not named after anyone and there really aren't many names passed down. Although, my niece's middle name, Isabel was my grandmother's name and my brother's middle name is my dad's name.

My middle name is Ellen. I am named after my grandmother. If I remember right Ellen has been passed down couple of generation.

Since I lost my mom and Dh lost his dad I think we are going to use their names some where in our baby's name. I guess Ellen will end with me.

I am the only child in my family that is not named after somebody. I'm a little bitter about that. Even most of the people in hubby's family are named after somebody. There is a female name on my father's side of the family that we were actually going to use on the baby I just lost if it was confirmed a girl - Carryl. We were going to use it as a middle name. It goes back at least 4 generations that I know of. Hubby's family is full of Joseph's (like hubby) . Our oldest son is named after hubby - Noah Joseph. Our youngest is named after hubby's father - his middle name is Thomas.

My first name Ashley comes from Young and Restless, I believe the character is still on the show.

My middle name is May and that was my Great Grandmothers first name, and my Gradmothers middle name.

My DH's name is Marc, and we have thought to use that name if we had a boy one day.
