I finally started to officially m/c. Cramping and very light bleeding this morning. But what I don't understand is why my doctor's office still wants me to come in today instead of next week after my bleeding is gone. I know they suspect low progesterone lvls but those can't be checked with good answers just yet. So I don't get it. Hmmm.

Do any of you ladies have an idea as to why they would still want me seen by the doctor?

***Update***
Well they aren't checking my HCG lvls which is odd but he is going to put me on progesterone as soon as I get a positive blood pregnancy confirmation next time. My bleeding is very light but I have been cramping half the day. For my own peace of mind I am going to call tomorrow and get my lvls checked. I want to know they are "normal" again.

Hi Zoey,

I'm so sorry about your miscarriage. I hope that it will soon be over. I hope that you are right, that by next week it will all be over including the blood. Last February I had a missed m/c and it lasted 2 weeks with another 6 weeks afterwards seeing blood

Maybe he wants to see that you have really started miscarrying. Good luck for your appointment

I'm so sorry! I would imagine that your doctor will want to check your HCG levels to see how they are dropping. If they don't drop sufficiently, there's a chance there is still tissue left in you and it will need to be taken care of to help avoid an infection. My guess is that they're just being cautious, which is a good thing.

I hope the m/c goes by quickly and your cycle gets back on track right away. Again, I'm so sorry you are going through this.

It seems a little overly cautious to me, but I don't know your medical history. I didn't have to go talk to the doc until after the bleeding stopped. She told me that I didn't have to worry unless I had a fever or soaked more than 3 pads in an hour. In my case I bled somewhat lighter than a normal period for a week, and it was done. It's been almost 6 weeks since my m/c and I just started AF yesterday; if that gives you a timeline. I was told that my experience is basically textbook normal for a m/c with low progesterone levels. My HCG level was 3500 the day that I started spotting, and now I'm assuming it's zero.

Best of luck. I'm so sorry you're going through this process, hugs!

So sorry for your loss. That is very interesting that they didn't want to check your levels. I would be getting them checked too for my own piece of mind.

Your levels may take awhile to drop. I think they should at least check them once to see if they're on the way down. Alternatively, you could just take pregnancy tests at home..the line should gradually get lighter and then eventually you'll get a negative. I knew something was up when my line got darker. So, I'd do that at the very least. But for peace of mind, I took would want a HCG draw...but maybe not until next week because I wouldn't imagine it'd drop that dramatically yet...but I could be wrong.

Oh and both the doctor and I totally forgot he wants to check Thyroid and some other stuff via bloodwork just to rule all other reasons out. So I have to call in the morning to get the paperwork.

I am very sorry for your loss. I agree with Missy on checking your progesterone level at 7dpo. I hope your doctor can give you some answers soon hun. The waiting part and the unknown is horrible.

Hopefully, your levels come down fast for you. My doctor made me go for one more blood draw yesterday and then I have a follow up appointment next Friday after the bleeding has stopped. They didn't really want to see me now though since there isn't much they can do right now. They are going to do an actual exam next week - yippee...

Instead of checking my lvls constantly he is just going to have me go on progesterone 200mg 2x daily the moment I get a postive blood test. He gave me two papers for lab work so if I get a postive hpt on a Saturday or Sunday I am to march my butt down to the ER and get my blood drawn, lol. He wants to make sure I get started on it right away since I seem to m/c within the first 5 weeks. And at that time he is going to check tyroid and all the other stuff that could cause issues.

I hope your lvls have dropped. And you too can move and start TTC again. For me at least once my numbers are down and out of the "pregnant" range its easier for me to move on and start TTC again. I am going in today to get one more draw and I am praying they are at 5 or below. I just really want to move on and start over. Seeing all these pregnant women and women with new borns sucks. I am happy for them but ugh. My doctor wants me to wait for 2 cycels but I may only wait just one since this m/c happend so early on and quick. (My last m/c took 2 months to finally be completely done. Oh I didn't realize i was pregnant for the first month and half. I still had bleeding but it was odd periods. And I was getting negative hpt but then right before i was to ovulate again i started getting weird opk results and so i took a hpt and it was postive. Turns out I had gotten pg almost 2 months prior /sigh.)
