Hello all! I hope yall don't care to have me. My name is Christy. I have been married for 5years to my wonderful husband Troy. We have a beautiful daughter named Claire who just turned 2. Now the sad part. I miscarried on Oct. 25, 2011 at 9weeks & 3days. I had started spotting at 6weeks and never turned into true bleeding. At my 9week mark I knew something wasn't right. Something at the beginning of that day in my fridge smelt weird and by the end of the day I couldn't smell it. Nothing had been removed to make that smell go away. I just knew but tried to not think about it thinking maybe my noise was stopped up.

I miscarried at home & had a DNC to make sure everything was out. Since I passed the baby at home I got my closure. I buried my Jelly Bean outside my bedroom window. It tore my heart to even think about doing anything else.

I tried to do everything right before I got pregnant. My big stresser was my thyroid since I have Hypothyroidism. So I made sure to get it checked before I got pregnant. I was never told my numbers, just that it was normal (which were for someone not TTC). Well I went to my OB today and thyroid number was 7... my doctor was shocked that I even got pregnant. He said pre-pregnancy it needs to be at a 2. He checked it again today and I should know something tomorrow. I am hoping I don't have to go up anymore. He told me to wait 2 menstrual cycles to TTC. He said most women don't ovulate the 1st menstrual cycle anyways.

So today has been stressful. I had come to terms with my miscarriage, but today reopened the wound. I can't help but feel like it's my fault all over again.

When do you have a menstrual cycle after a miscarriage?

Hi Christy - my name is Alicia. I had a mscarriage in Sept., had a D&C and was supposed to have my first period about a week ago. After waiting 40 something days for it to arrive, it was spotty though. I never considered it the real thing since it wasn't constent. However, all the bloodwork I had around that time seemed normal to typical AF. Like your doctor said, my clininc thinks that I may not have ovulated, which is why it was so spotty. We are moving forward with the plan to check my uterus to make sure all is healing okay, and then just waiting on my next period, to hopefully start meds for IVF, frozen transfer. I am hoping I do ovulate this month - I want my body back to normal. I think I might use ovulation tests this month to see what those say.

Anything I have read, including what the doctors told me, said it can take about 4-6 from the D&C, for your period to return. I have read that your hormones won't start doing it's natural monthly thing until all the HCG levels have dropped. However, since you miscarried at home, your levels may have been low already pre and post D&C - so hopefully your wait won't be as long as mine!

I am sorry for your loss! I am trying to move forward, but it's hard - I think about it everyday - I try to focus on the good things to get me through; some days that works, others....not so much, LOL! I hope you can find a way to relieve some of your stress...

Hang in there ;o)

Sorry - 4-6 weeks from the D&C*

Welcome to the board. So sorry to hear of your loss. Please do not blame yourself.

I hope you're able to regulate your thyroid and get a sticky BFP just as soon as you're physically and emotionally ready to try again.

(BTW, I'm Adrienne (32), TTC our first.)

I feel your story... It's hard to cope with but the ladies makes it easier to deal with.
I'd wait till your HCG levels are back to zero before you start TTC (done by bloodwork).....

Im sorry for your loss and please don't blame yourself. These things are just out of our control. I hope your thyroid numbers stay where they need to be and you get pregnant again soon.

I had my period a little over 4 weeks after my DC.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My miscarriage start Oct. 12th and the bleeding stopped on the 20th but my numbers are still not back to 0 yet. My midwife has me go in weekly to check how far down they are and once they get back to 0 we are going to wait 1 or 2 cycles depending on how I feel physically and emotionally.

Thank you ladies! I think I am going to see how this coming cycle goes (heavy/light) to see if we will try. Also I am not even going to think about it until my thyroid is right. I am hoping to find something out about it Monday, if they don't call me by 2pm I'm going to call them. Hopefully I will get the on it before the next 4weeks are here.
