I have a friend who found out she was pregnant last week and now her numbers aren't rising like they should. She has already suffered one loss and was TTC for about 7 months. They were one cycle away from doing IUI and she got her BFP. At first the numbers were rising well, but they seem to have slowed. She is very anxious (understandably) and I am so worried for her and her baby. She could definitely use some extra thoughts & prayers...especially from women who have "been there, done that". She's an incredible woman and I sincerely just want this pregnancy to work for her.

Hey Sarah - once you get to a certain point the beta's do not double anymore. Not trying to give out false hope but couple of questions: How far along is she? What have her betas been looking like?

((hugs))

on a side note: My DH and I were watching the show "deadliest catch" today and I thought of you, lol. Only I like lobster more than crab...

Thank you so much ladies!!! Every little bit helps!!

Missy, she is just about 5 weeks. Her numbers were 145 (10/26), 321 (10/28), 746 (10/31), & 1145 (11/4). She had an ultrasound and they found a sac but that's it. Of course, they all realize that it's super early so a sac is pretty much all they'd see anyway. She's going in this week for another ultrasound and I'm hoping that everything is ok.

Oh, and I like lobster more than crab too and I am SOOOOOO glad my BF isn't one of those crab fishermen. That is way too dangerous! I don't know how those men's wives handle it.

I said a prayer for her honey. It is not lost hope though, her betas are slow but not out yet, she could have implanted a few days later than usual and have a slow starter. At 5 weeks that is all we saw was a sac as well, no pole or anything so her Ultrasound sounds in the normal range. I hope it ends up good news for her.

On another note: Isn't your RE appointment on the 10th?

there's always hope Sarah...even though in my case the numbers not rising was a bad sign, i had a lot of supportive ladies on JM during that time who shared their own stores (and some websites) of slow rising hcg numbers and babies who turned out just fine. I really hope everything is ok for your friend...i think i read that something like 10-20% of pregnancies don't follow the doubling rule and rise more slowly.

Thoughts and prayers going her way.. I agree about what the other ladies have said about betas. They do stop doubling after a while.

My doc refuses to do a u/s until your numbers have reached at least 1,000 because so many people just see an empty sac and then panic. I sure hope that they see something and that he numbers start jumping soon!

T&P for your friend! I actually don't think the numbers look bad; maybe a little slow, but I think there's hope for her yet!!

You ladies are amazing! I hope they are just a little slow and there's nothing for her to worry about. I think that once you have a loss, it's so easy to get lost in averages and what things are supposed to do. I will keep you posted and hopefully she will be fine.

So, my friend went in for an ultrasound this morning and they saw a heartbeat!! She was shocked (understandably) and very relieved. The heartbeat was a little slower than the doctor would've liked, but it is still well within the normal range. So, she is just taking things one step at a time and praying that the little bean continues to get stronger. After having suffered a miscarriage, she is extremely cautiously optimistic and these next few weeks will certainly be emotional for her.

Thank you to all of you for sending out thoughts & prayers!!!
