Wow! I have not been this happy in a LONG time!! I went down to my consultation with the fertility specialist today. I was soooooooo nervous and anticipating more bad news. Well, it went way better than I ever expected. He was awesome and sat with me for an hour pouring over my records and charts. The only thing he didn't have (which was the main point of me being there) was the pictures from my HSG. BUT, he said that just from reading the description, it doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with my tubes after all. He says that he would not have me do a laparoscopy...he thinks it's unnecessary and it would waste precious time. He recommends doing 3 cycles of Clomid and IUI and if that doesn't work, then doing Clomid & IVF. This Clomid/IVF procedure only costs $3500 so that is a huge relief and totally doable. I left there finally feeling like a real woman and not feeling broken anymore. I have hope and encouragement. What a great feeling!

What an awesome appointment Sarah!! Sounds like you've really got a plan now and sounds like you met with a great doctor. I hope the clomid and IUI works the first time. although the IVF is not as expensive I would have thought. So glad for you and so glad that you are feeling encouragement. I just know that you'll have your rainbow baby before you know it.

Thanks ladies! I am on cloud 9 right now! For the first time in months, I found myself smiling without someone saying a joke or any other outside influence. It was pure happiness...it felt foreign and wonderful!
Melissa, my jaw dropped when he told me the cost. I don't know why it's so much cheaper than regular IVF, but I was so happy to hear him tell me the one he'd do with me is the cheap one. It's about time I had some good news!
I was so nervous about going to a male doctor, but he was so straightforward and really knew what he was talking about. Plus, he also knew exactly what I am feeling. He spent some time talking about all of the charting I've done and how I've probably wondered if just forgetting about all of that would help me get my BFP...but at the same time, it's impossible to not chart. It's like he read my mind. I never would've expected that from a man. Without actually saying it, he basically told me he understands that the "relax & it will happen" thing doesn't really work (and that it's probably extremely frustrating when people say that to me)...especially for someone in my age bracket. He also wants to be full-on proactive to make the most of the time I have, which is why he wants to do the Clomid. I'll be calling my OB tomorrow to discuss the cost of IUI and where we go from here. Hopefully, I'll get my BFP in 12 days and not even have to worry about any of that....but I now know that if I don't, that I've got a great plan of action in place.

Sarah - I am very happy for you! Are they going to monitor you with ultrasound while you do the clomid? The clomid is pretty cheap <$10, IUI about $500 - it is the monitoring that is costly.
I felt the same way you do right now after I first went to the RE. Hope is such a good thing!!

You ladies are the best! Just when I thought I couldn't feel any better...you all bring a fresh smile to my face.
Missy, that cost is a lot better than I expected. The only monitoring I was going to have was after I get pregnant. Since my OB thought there was something wrong with my tubes, she was concerned about ectopic. She may still monitor me after I get pregnant, which is totally fine with me...but I don't think she'll do any other monitoring.

oh Sarah i'm so happy for you - that's good news on top of good news! Glad the cost estimate is lower than you expected too...I feel so hopeful that this new path is going to lead to a BFP for you really really soon!!!

Sounds like a great appointment Sarah I know I felt so much better just having a plan. I can't believe the IVF he recommended is so cheap The one we "need" to do is $15K. Fx that you get a BFP w/o having to do any of this!!
