HI there,

Thought I'd introduce myself... My name is Alex and I've just suffered my second miscarriage in just a few months. I first discovered I was pregnant in June but at the first scan we had only a slow heart rate. After weekly u/s we discovered that the heartbeat had stopped. it was a very painful process and I ended up having a D and C as there was no sign of me miscarrying naturally any time soon. We were lucky to get pregnant again the first cycle post d and c, and even though my hCG numbers looked fantastic and I was suffering with hyperemesis (as I had with my son), the first scan at 7/5 weeks showed a great heartbeat but the baby was measuring small. All my doctors were very positive and suggested that my dates were off. It was very frustrating as I knew they weren't because I was charting and also had a positive hpt at 9dpo. I also have my hCG quant done at 11 and 14dpos, and then it was in the upper 300s. I basically begged for another scan at 10 weeks because even though I was getting sicker, I just knew something was wrong...

Well, again, the baby had died. I had another D and C - again no signs of naturally miscarrying and I couldn't cope with the extreme sickness and vomiting (i was on zofran the entire time), but a few days after that I started bleeding and contracting and passing large clots so I needed another D and C in the middle of the night last Friday.

I'm 35, so not getting younger. We have one lovely, sweet 2 year old boy but we are desperate for a sibling. I've been referred to an RE, who I'll see on December 13th. It's been a horrible time, and although people have been super supportive and nice, it is a very lonely experience, and I have definitely had one foot firmly in crazy this past week.

WOuld love to know what people have experienced seeing an RE... I'm a bit clueless about how things will go.

Thanks
Alex (zub)

Hello and welcome! I am so very sorry for your losses. The ladies here are amazing and so supportive. As far as the RE goes I have my first appointment the 22 of December. I know from what others have said it can be a bit overwhelming so take a notebook along to write things down in. Also if you have questions write them down ahead of time so you don't forget. Take along your medical records. Hope that helps and I hope that your RE can help you!

Hugs to you Alex... Sorry for your losses and I hope that we can help you through this hard time.... I had a hard time coping but I think of it as more fuel to try for another chance of getting pregnant.... Think Positive and take it day by day....

I'm so sorry you are going through this Alex. I'm going to see an RE next week for my recurrent losses. I've had 3 since May. I'll let you know what they do after my appointment.

Hi Alex and welcome! I'm so sorry for your losses! It is so heartbreaking and sounds like you've really been through the ringer with those D & C's. I saw in the chat thread that you are from Portland. Are you going to be seeing one of the doctors at the Boston IVF place in Portland? If so, I had a consultation with them a couple of weeks ago and I was very impressed. The doctor I saw was incredibly supportive, took the time to listen, and took the time to fully explain everything. He also helped come up with a great plan of action. I agree with Katie to bring a notebook. I would start writing questions now...anything you can think of.

Hello, and welcome to the board. I'm so sorry for both of your losses. I remember you, though only briefly, from the June DDC. I was there for about a week before I suffered an early loss. I sincerely hope that your RE is able to find out what's going wrong and help you to conceive and keep a healthy, full-term pregnancy.

BTW, your son is adorable.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! And thank you, my son is very, very sweet! I do feel super lucky having him, but the desire to have another one is just as strong as it was the first time around.

Junie, I remember you too! so sorry you experienced your loss TTC your first. I do think that that is its special kind of hell.

Thanks for the advice, Pepper. I am actually going to someone at Maine Med - Daniel Spratt. From what I've heard (I'm a professor at a medical school so have good advisers!) he is meant to be extremely smart. That said, I think that if we went down the road of infertility tx, then we may check out the Boston center as I've also heard good things about them. My OB thinks that I've just had really bad luck, but I am hoping that Dr. Spratt will be able to shed some light on the matter.

Thanks, all. So glad I found this place

I'm so sorry for your losses.
I first saw my RE when I was 38 and after 3 m/c's He diagnosed a uterine cyst, and did surgery to remove it. I then did three cycles of MA with him and had DS in Jan 2010. I went back to him after we started TTC #2 and had 2 m/c's. We did three cycle of MA- one resulted in an early m/c, one was a dud, then I got my sticky on the third try.
Hope your appt goes good and they can give you some answers!

Wow, Sam, you've been through so much. So glad that you have two sticky babies, though. I am a bit slow, but what does MA stand for?

HI Nicole, sorry you're here too. Were you from the June due date club too?

Hi Zubeldia, Im so sorry for your losses! Big hugs! I feel for you. While my M/Cs were very different I feel for you,, having two M/Cs so close together. I am currently having my second natural M/C my last was on Oct. 10. SO I have an idea of what you are going through. I know what you are saying about feeling alone and thats why I love JustMommies so much. The internet has been much more supportive for me than my own family.
