Hi Everyone,

I had a miscarriage back in April 2011- according to my OBGYN I had a vanishing twin pregnancy but lost the second baby as well, I was about 10 weeks a long.
My OBGYN started me on Metformin 6 weeks ago for PCOS. I have been doing my ovulation tests as directed and I got a positive yesterday- the very first one since April.
What are my chances of having twins again? What about another miscarriage?
If I get pregnant again will I show faster than the first time even so I didnt carry to full term?
I am starting to get worried about another miscarriage etc, is that normal?

Thank you, Kitty!

Hi again, Kitty. I'm glad you checked in over here. The boards are a little quiet today, so don't get discouraged if you don't get a lot of responses right away. This group of ladies in incredibly helpful, though.

I'm sorry you had to go through a loss. I had an early loss with my first pregnancy a couple of cycles ago, but I'm back to trying... and ovulating today actually.

I'll let others with experience with Metformin answer your questions about the possibility for twins. As for increased chance of miscarriage, it's hard to say. It really depends on what the root cause of your first miscarriage was. If it was simply a chromosomal abnormality as so many miscarriages are, then I'm sure your chances are perfectly fine for having a full-term, healthy pregnancy the next time around.

And regarding your last question, it is totally normal to be worried about another miscarriage. In fact, I don't think it's possible to go through a loss and not have a fear about getting and staying pregnant again.

By the way, I'm Adrienne (32), and we're in our fifth cycle of TTC our first child.

Hello and welcome to TTCAL. It is completely normal to be scared. Pregnancy loss is so heartbreaking and the thought of getting pregnant again always scared me as I did not want to go through the pain of loss again.

As far as your chances go - there are so many variables involved with TTC that no one would be able to give you percentages. If you are ready then BD and hopefully you get pregnant.

All of this is hard... I know ((hugs))

Metformin won't increase your chance of twins. And it can help during the first 12 weeks to prevent m/c.

good luck!

I'm so sorry for your loss and it is absolutely normal to worry about another one. I really wish I could give you concrete answers on your chances of twins and/or another miscarriage, but like Missy said, there are way too many variables.

We'll all be here for you to support you through this.
