Have any of you had to take antidepressants at any point? I'm having some serious stress/anxiety right now. Only problem is, I think most antidepressants aren't recommended for people who are trying to get pregnant ... any thoughts or advice??

There are a few that are safe while pregnant. You need to sepcifically tell your doctor that you are planning on becoming pregnant.

I suffer from extreme anxiety/panic disorder, but I have learned to control mine with therapy and breathing techniques over the years. I have been on multiple meds, but nothing really helped me, hence me not being on meds now. Still, I am sure some of the girls on here can give you specific names.

My doctor took me off mine when he knew I was TTC. I know there are some that they say might be safe during pregnancy but I'm not sure what they are. Have you talked to your doctor about it? I highly recommend you talking to your doctor. They should be able to give you some options.

It was a suggestion from a GI doctor because of some medical issues I've been having. Now I just need to talk to my primary care doctor.

What I've heard is there are times when the benefits of the anti-depressants would out weigh the possible side effects to the baby. I think It's probably going to depend on your doctor, you may even try to get more than one opinion.

A few months ago on the podcast I listen to they did an interview with a doctor about this subject if you are interested it's called Sound Medicine on Itunes and it's the podcast dated 7-17-11. It's about 11 minutes into the podcast. Or you can find it here: Sound Medicine: July 17, 2011

I was on Welbutrin and Zanax for Anxiety and depression. I took them on and off again for over 2 years while we were TTC. As soon as I got my bfp I stopped taking them.

Make sure you take care of YOU! I know it is hard but if you are not doing well it will make it harder to not only conceive but to heal emotionally from loss.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I've got a call in to my primary care doctor and I'll speak with my therapist tomorrow, so we'll see what they say.
