Hi ladies:
I was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. I went to the doc's Thursday afternoon because I had started bleeding. He sent me for beta's the next morning. TMI WARNING: I passed what I believed was the sac Friday morning but my beta's showed an increase. I then passed some larger clots Friday afternoon and Saturday (more than with my last m/c). I went in for beta's this morning because my doc wanted to ensure that the levels were decreasing and the results revealed another increase. How is that even possible?
The doc is concerned that the baby implanted somewhere else than my uterus. An u/s last week revealed nothing. I go back tomorrow to have another look.
This whole situation is very unusual and is taking a tole on my emotions.

So there is no chance of twins and you only passed one? I guess there are a few other things it could be, like remaining tissue or something else, but I don't know much about that. Sorry, you're dealing with this

There can be some different reasons, a twin, ectopic, retained tissue and other things. I wish I could give you some answers. Please KUP hun and your in my thoughts & prayers.

Thanks for the update. I've been wondering how things turned out for you. I hope everything gets figured out soon. I can imagine it's extremely stressful to be left wondering.

My first thought was a twin. When my docs realized we were losing a twin, they warned me that I could bleed heavily and pass lots of masses without it affecting the growing baby. It would be reasonable that your betas are increasing if that were happening. But with the first sono results, it is hard to determine what is happening. I am so sorry you are going thru this. I hope you get answers soon!

With my loss, my beta's went up but not enough to sustain the PG. Did your numbers double or come close or just go up a little? I hope your doctor can give you some answers soon. Not knowing is just the worst.

Twins was my first thought as well. I guess I will wait until tomorrow to see what happens.
Thanks for the responses.

I also had rising #'s with my loss. I hope that isn't the case for you and the bleeding is totally unrelated.

I know another member here who also bled really heavy and her #'s were going up very high, and it turned out to be an ectopic in her cervix. She ended up getting a d&c to clean her all out. Could also be retained tissue. When your passing clots like that, its hard to determine if you actually passed products of conception or not. I passed large baseball size clots with one of my loss's and the swore the sac was in one of the large mass's......turns out it was stuck in me still and needed a d&c. My levels were also rising....got to over 100,000.
Good luck at your u/s tomorrow and pray that your body can start healing soon as well as your heart.

Good luck at your ultrasound. I hope it can show something somewhere. I would be really hesitant agreeing to a D&C until you've been able to graphically find it.
I'd also be wanting the doc to do a blood test every few days to see how the numbers are going. Ecoptics often have irregular bursts of hcg whereas an intrauterine pregnancy is more consistent.
How frustrating for you. Big hugs.

With my first blighted ovum, I took cytotec, had the worst pain I've ever felt, and passed what I swore up and down was the sac. Went for the follow up ultrasound, and nope, to my shock and amazement the sac was still there, had grown, and my HCG eventually rose to over 100,000.
I would bet it was probably a huge clot or part of the uterine lining. I've got everything crossed your next u/s goes well!!
