Where do you get it? How much do you take and when? Is it safe to take while on prometrium?

You can buy it at Walmart.
soy isoflavones - Walmart.com
I took 4 of them in the am cd 3-7. I did not get pregnant taking them but did have stronger ovulation symptoms (like I did with clomid). There are quite a few girls that have gotten pregnant taking them.
And yes, like clomid it is safe to take with progesterone.
Good Luck!!

Somebody in my son's PR said soy can aggravate the thyroid... do any of you have experience with that? I'm very tempted to try it...
Also, Missy, what is your typical O day? How many days prior to your expected ovulation date should you be taking them? I usually ovulate on CD 12 if that helps with your answer

I don't think your supposed to take soy every cycle (every other I think is fine). If you usually ovulate CD 12 then I would still take it CD 3-7. Keep in mind it can push you O date back a few days. Some ladies it moved their O date up and some stayed the same and some it delayed O.

Ditto what Katie said. Do not take it every cycle. Give it a break between cycles.
Ok, for my experience with soy:
My hubby and I tried to get pregnant unsuccessfully for 3 1/2 years. We had 1 chemical and 1 early loss. Plus we had an unsuccessful IVF cycle. I tried soy on the suggestion of a few ladies on here. I bought mine on Amazon (the one with the best reviews).
They say to take it like Clomid, except you have to take a bigger dose of soy (usually double what you should take of Clmoid if I am not mistaken). Take it on cycle days 1-5 for tons of eggies (not best quality though), cycle days 3-7 for more eggs a little better quality, and days 5-9 for one good strong ovulation and a great quality egg. I took 3 (I believe 120mg) soy pills once a day cycle days 5-9. It did make me ovulate a day later than normal, but I had a really strong ovulation with tons of CM (I never have good CM). I became pregnant my first try ever on soy. Needless to say I believe in it, but I know it is not 100% for everyone.
As for progesterone, I started mine as soon as soon as I got my faint BFP. I am 18 weeks pregnant now and still in shock about it.

I took it the first time was "double the clomid dose" at 120 mg - I had a good O. the next cycle I took 120 mg, and it pushed my O back from cd 22 to 28. Then I decided to try 200 mg, and I shouldn't have, I had very late O, like cd 40.
the last cycle I tried it, I only had enough to do 80mg for 5 days, so I did cd 5-9, my O was late, but it worked. Not sure if it was the soy, or the fact that I stopped some other supplements due to being out of town.

Hmm... I'm a little nervous to try it since you guys are saying your O date often got pushed back. My LP is really short, and with prometrium is finally 12 days instead of 10... I'm not sure I want to risk screwing that up.

I'm not sure how it would affect your luteal phase.

I'm not sure either since it's a different hormone that's "in charge" of the luteal phase. I'd think it wouldn't affect it and you'd just have help on both ends of your cycle, but that's just a guess and I'd ask your doctor.

I was wondering about Soy, but my cycles are pretty normal. Also does anyone know if I did decide to try this would it mess with my hypothyroidism? I am going to keep looking but I figured I would ask if anyone had tried this and have thyroid problems.

Yeah, I think I'd better talk to my OB prior to starting the soy... I'd hate to mess up my LP when I JUST finally got it lengthened in the past few months!

I don't think your LP would change. Your whole cycle may be a little longer if you O later.
It wouldn't hurt to talk to your OB about it. He/she should be aware of these things.
Good luck!!
