So today was our CD12 u/s to check on size of the follie and if large enough to take the trigger shot.

What I got instead was a little bit of a surprise...2 follies developed despite starting Clomid on CD5 (so much for RE's theory that starting it late would prevent 2nd follie from maturing ). The larger of the 2 is at 18.5 today and the 2nd is at 17.5

Which has presented a little bit of a dilemma for us...we are trying to take every reasonable step to avoid a multiple pregnancy and my RE & OB both agree with that strategy. In addition to my newly discovered blood clotting mutation (which poses additional risk), I had some complications with Savannah's pregnancy that make a multiple pregnancy riskier than normal even for someone of my age (and my age alone makes it risky).

So based on RE's advice, I triggered today which he believes will reduce the chance of the 2nd follie fully maturing & ovulating to about 50%. Which from my perpsective is still really bad odds in the sense that I went from a theoretical risk of 10% chance of twins to now a 50% flip of the coin. But I talked with DH and we're going to take our chances and TTC anyway (as opposed to skip this cycle), but I'm feeling really conflicted right now

IDK what to think..I know 90% of my RE's patients would love to have my "problem" - which makes me feel weird & guilty to be upset about it - but I'm really scared and despite my RE kind of downplaying my original fear of a twin pregnancy scenario now it seems like everything that wasn't likely to happen is in fact now happening. I also worry that RE's perspective was that an "ideal" outcome would have been to trigger tomorrow (despite the enhanced risk of multiples) to create the most mature follies...obviously we've decided not to do that, but now I worry that I've maybe negatively impacted the 1 mostly mature follie by not waiting until it was a bit bigger

Anyway, if you made it through this rambling mess I guess I'm just looking for someone to tell me to quit worrying and go with the flow. On the bright side I told DH the RE gave me a prescription for DTD next 3 days

Everything will be fine!! Don't worry!! What's meant to be is what's meant to be. If you end up with twins then that is what was suppose to happen. Everything in life has a reason!

i know...and you both are totally right, plus it's useless to worry about what i can't change at this point unless i want to abandon this cycle (and i dont!)

DH was so sweet to me tonight - and he's more worried about twins than i am even - and said to me "don't worry, if it does happen we'll just get a bigger car"

Big, big hugs. It's not an enviable situation to be in. Twins can be a huge risk, but there are so many good doctors and midwives out there who support twins that I think you'd do well, even with a slightly riskier odds.

I hope just one super great eggie pops and you get it!

Lara I totally understand your worry, but I agree with what you told us to tell you! Try to relax and just tell yourself that whatever is meant to happen will happen. You're doing everything that you can to get that rainbow baby, try to have some fun and not borrow trouble. On the off chance that you do end up with a twin pregnancy you'll deal with it. In the meantime, just go with it!

I'm holding out hope for both of us to end up in that October DDC!! HUGS

I totally get your fear of multiples. To be quite honest, I will be petrified if I am ever pregnant with multiples! That being said, I really truly believe that every baby is sent from God above, and if you get pregnant with twins, it is meant to be. Plus, you would have excellent care throughout your pregnancy, giving you the best possible chance of a successful outcome! Have fun BD-ing! Hoping many of us will be together in the Oct. DDC!

I agree. Go with the flow and if it's supposed to happen then it's meant to be. There is no use worrying about it because nothing you do will change it. Now get to BDing

Try to remember that even with 2 eggs your chances of twins is still only around 10-15%.
To help, I had 8 eggs when I got pregnant with this one, and yep it's just one baby in there.

Hugs! Can't wait to see that BFP soon!

You are definitely over-thinking it. There are too many variables to "what if" every scenario. You'll drive yourself crazy. Que sera sera.

2 of the cycles I triggered with clomid I had 4+ mature follies and did not get pregnant either time. ((hugs)) I hope you end up with 1 sticky bean in there ~ Try not to stress yourself out too much!
