Hi all,

I've been reading the posts here and figured it's time to introduce myself. I used to be very active on this board a few years ago but haven't posted recently.

I just miscarried over the weekend, at a little over 9 weeks pregnant. This is now my 3rd miscarriage, so I'm pretty frustrated with it all. This pregnancy went longer than the other two though so I really thought it was going to be ok. I do have a son (17 months old), who is absolutely the light of my life.

We're really hoping to have another baby before it is too late I'm 38 years old so am getting pretty worried here. We started this whole process though, actively trying to conceive wow, back in 2005, after not trying, not preventing, for a good 4 or 5 years. I never realized how difficult the process would be and I guess I just thought that when we wanted to get pregnant, we would.

With this pregnancy, I finally convinced my OB to check my progesterone (the beta was perfect) and found out it was low. Unfortunately, it was too late to do anything and I still miscarried. I don't even know if it would have made a difference, of course.

So, now I'm sitting back and waiting, I guess, for 1. to stop bleeding from this mc and 2. for a normal cycle so we can start TTC again. This is all so heartbreaking though, I just can't believe we are back here, at square 1, again.

Sorry this is so long. Thanks for taking the time to read it!

i remember you - sorry to welcome you back b/c of another loss though ((HUGS))

Has your OB run RPL panels on you yet? I'm a bit older than you (39) and if they haven't I'd really recommend it...with a successful pregnancy and once your AMA a lot of OBs rule out (without testing) common RPL issues assuming it's just random m/c due to age....when I pushed for testing after my 2nd loss in Oct, my OB was surprised to find I was positive for Factor II mutation (hetero) and elevated anticardiolipins. If your insurance will cover a fully battery of tests (find out first though since some are expensive) it might be good info for you to have just to make sure there isn't something else happening.

No, not at all. I had to push her just to test my progesterone levels! I will ask about this, especially since my first loss was back when I was a lot younger than I am now, kwim?

different OBs seem to run a slightly different selection of tests for recurrent pregnancy loss, but minimally should run i think thyroid check, checks for different gene mutations associated with clotting disorders (Factor II, Factor V Leiden, MTHFR, etc), anticardiolipins...and i'm sure there are some others, i think my Dr ran 8 in total, but some ladies have mentioned they had 10 or more tests run as part of the bloodwork, so it must vary a little based on medical history. My OB also ran a full karyotyping on me & DH (checks for genetic issues) but that's a really expensive test (to the tune of close to $2K if insurance won't cover) and apparently some doctors wont run it at all.

I'm very sorry for your losses. I agree with Lara, with 3 miscarriages, I would be looking into doing the RPL panel, especially given your age. I'm 33, and after my second m/c, my OB put me on progesterone, and we have already discussed how if I miscarry a 3rd time, we will run the RPL panel. I hope your stay on this board is short and sweet, and that you get your rainbow baby soon!

So sorry for your loss I actually followed your posts on the DDC board as I was going through the exact same thing, I was too scared to post at the time. I had to have a D/C a week ago.. I am 38 and on my 3rd miscarriage as well. Stay positive, I hope that you will get answers soon and that you get that sticky bean.

I am so sorry for your loss and that you find yourself back here. I'm 36 and worry that time is running out on having another child. I hope you can get some testing done to see if there is a reason for your losses. Hopefully you will have your sticky bean soon.

Thanks everyone. I will definitely talk to my OB, or...I've actually been thinking about asking one of my friends who I know is on Progesterone and who had to see an RE, if she can refer me to them.

I just want to know what is going on and why this keeps happening.

DINDIN-I'm so sorry you are going through this too.
