Hi Ladies.. I am kind of in limbo right now. Here is my story..
I had sex on Christmas Day.. I have no idea when I ovulated as I wasnt keeping track.. I know that I tested 10 days later and got a bfn, I tested 12 days later and got a bfn, I got a bfp 17 days after dtd. Last Friday I had a little spotting and my doc said to go to the ER (office was closed) So I went in and by my counting I was about 6 weeks, they measured me at 5 weeks (give or take a week). They did not see a fetal hb, but said that was normal and it was too early.
Yesterday, I had to go to my doctor for a follow up appointment, the doctor did a tv u/s and saw an empty sac, no yolk sac, or fetal pole, he could not see anything at all and said this would be right for about 4/5 weeks, my calculations again are about 7 weeks.. I cant be off on the date we dtd because I know for sure it was then and only then..
I know this sounds like a blighted ovum miscarriage, and my doc is not optimistic at all, I had blood drawn and will get the results later today, I go back on Monday for more blood work.
Has anyone experienced this?? Is it possible that all is okay and they are just not seeing anything?? Or should I mentally start to prepare myself for a miscarriage?? I had one loss years ago, but that was determined via u/s when the babies heart stopped beating at 15 weeks. I am petrified that I will start to bleed and have bad cramps any minute now and I just have no clue what to expect..
Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully someone can help me out with ideas/thoughts..

I am so sorry your having to go through all of this. I would say if they aren't seeing anything at this point then it does sound like a missed m/c or a blighted ovum. Could you go get a second opinion to be sure? The waiting game is the worst. I would get a second opinion and go from there. If it is a missed m/c the options are waiting it out and let your body do it on it's own. Or having them do a D&C. I have done both and for me the D&C has been easier than waiting and having to put my body through the m/c at home and seeing everything. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.

I'm so sorry. I had an early loss and I miscarried naturally. It was okay for me because it was early and it was like a heavy period. I have friends who miscarried a little later into pregnancy than me and found a D&C to be easier. I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

HUGS, if you're positive on the dates then i agree with Katie it doesn't sound hopeful, but I will still keep my fingers crossed for you that the bloodwork refutes the u/s result.
On your comment about worrying that cramping & bleeding will start, I just wanted to share that I have had 2 losses - one completed via a D&C and one completed naturally. My experience was the 2nd where the m/c completed naturally was not bad and it was actually a lot less painful & easier than I anticipated. Just in case you're scared...I scared myself reading a lot of the stories online in advance. HUGS

It does sound a lot like a missed miscarriage or blighted ovum. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I'm glad the doctor is going to do bloodwork for you to see if you can get a better idea of what is going on.

the best thing you can do, i think, basing off my experience with my last two cycles ending in a miscarriage.. is try to stay positive, and even stay positive if it is infact a miscarriage, in other words, just prepare yourself KWIM... i know that probably sounds bad, but it really helped me and i dont think i was AS upset as i would have been had I been all stoked and everything.. but I am sorry your having to go through this!
with my second, we were doing blood draws every 3-4 days.. it went from 15, to 16 and 4 days later down to 2.. the day i had the last blood draw, is when my bleeding reallly picked up..
though you KNOW when you DTD, that doesnt mean you know exactly when you concieved.. for all any one knows, you DTD on Christmas and didn't actually ovulate until a week later.. being that the swimmers can live that long.. it's still possible.. so i don't think your out of the game yet, it isnt over until it's over KWIM.. just keep your head up and at this point all you can do is wait to hear back from the results!
i hope you got a sticky and just off on your calculations and there is a little bean in there hiding out! T&P for ya Nicola!!

Well my bloodwork came back and it has not even doubled in 6 days.. Last Friday it was 5,600 and yesterday was 9,500.. So my doc is expecting the worst. He said I have a 1-100 chance of the baby being okay at this point. I guess all I do now is wait for this process to start.
