When this m/c finally starts to happen, is that the same as AF? or will I miscarry and then have AF later on? Thanks!

how far along were you?

Mine was a 6 week pregnancy, that didn't miscarry until 9 weeks, it was pretty nasty, bad cramping, lots of blood gushing, clots, the POC came out, and all day long I could feel it just inside my vagina and I didn't know what it was, I was afraid to push it out.

my m/w recommended I take 4 ibuprofen to help with the cramping. DH stayed home to help me with the kids - I was in the bathroom all the time.

again (hugs)

It really with each person. For me my early losses were like AF only heavier, more clots & cramps. My doctor had me take 2 Tylenol (they didn't want me taking aspirin due to it thinning out my blood). If you bleed through more than one pad an hour or start running a fever go to the ER right away.

I counted mine as AF. You should expect your normal AF from 4 to 6weeks after. I counted the day I MC as CD1.

I'm not sure about POC either, but as far as counting it as AF, I had to chart it as AF, but specify MC, counting the first day of bleeding ad CD 1 like Christy did. The miscarriage itself is not technically your first AF, though.

It really depends how far along you were I think. I was 9 weeks and had cramping so bad I thought I was actually having contractions! I had some sort of water-breakage too, (I could feel it and upon describing the feeling to the doc. he agreed) and I could feel the fetus flushing out when the cramps got to their worst point and I spent some time sitting on the toilet for it all to be over. After the fetus passed, the cramps stopped, so all in all it took about 2-3 hours of cramping and 1 min. of "flushing" I think.

I used an electrical heating pad but no pills. I bled for about 1-2 weeks afterwards but not really bad.

Then my regular period came about 4-6 weeks later.

Good luck to you and I'm so sorry for your loss.

Mine was mostly like a period but with more cramping and clots. I was about 7 weeks along when I m/c.

Just a thought, but have you thought about talking to your doctor about either a d&c or something you can take to start the m/c? I used cytotec because I couldn't bear the thought of waiting any longer. I needed the physical part to be over so I could start to heal.

Again, I'm so so sorry for your loss.

POC= product of conception. I call it that, because I passed what looked like a hard rubber ball, I don't know what what in it, but I never saw anything that looked like an embryo or fetus.
