Hey ladies, just went to my follow up dr. appt today post the M/C. Went really well and since the loss was so early (five weeks) my OB didn't find any reason in my blood results or U/S to find anything that might have caused the loss other than just an unfortunate chromosomal abnormality, which seems to be the most common reason for early losses. Anyway, I stopped bleeding today but I found out that my HCG level was still 10 on Wednesday (two days ago), so I have to get blood work one more time next week to make sure my levels drop all the way.

According to my OB, there is nothing wrong with starting to TTC right away. Although he did say it would be a good idea to wait for at least one normal AF post M/C before we start to TTC again. However, that really only seems because they would have trouble dating the pregnancy otherwise.

I am a big charter/temper so even if we did TTC with this upcoming ovulation here soon (instead of waiting for AF), I don't really think it would be that difficult to date the pregnancy.

Any thoughts on trying right away after a m/c? Any of you ladies do this, or do most of you wait until after that first AF post m/c?

It's an entirely personal decision. My OB advised waiting 3 cycles, and said that the risk of another miscarriage is about 4% higher if you get pregnant sooner than that. However, there is lots of conflicting opinions on that. With my first m/c, I felt like I needed a few cycles to be emotionally and physically ready. With my second m/c, I felt ready to try again right away. Talk with your DH, and do what feels right for the two of you.

like doremi said, it's a personal decision. I would advise you to at least wait one regular cycle. Let your body slow down and get back into the normal rythm.

It's a personal decision... After my first miscarriage which was early like yours we tried right after and got pregnant again... Which I lost that one too... So I waited one cycle and then tried again. Well we got pregnant and that one was ectopic. We then waited like 8 months and we got pregnant first try and I'm now 21 weeks with so far a healthy pregnancy. Some women have gotten pregnant right after and are fine... I'm just a big believer in waiting a little.

My ob told me I didn't have to wait either....he said I could try two weeks after my procedure was done. So we tried....that's been back in November and I'm still not preggo ...but were still trying. I believe that as long as you feel ready, there's no use waiting...so go for it if your numbers look good, that's my opinion

My doctor said to wait for my first AF because there is a higher risk of another miscarriage if I were to get pregnant before then. It sounds like it's mostly a personal choice, though.

Thanks, ladies! I appreciate your thoughts/opinions. I know DH and I are both on board to start ttc right away. I've read some studies that seem to believe that your risk of m/c is not higher depending on the initial cause of the m/c and your age. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I am not even sure if I will even O on my own anyway as I hadn't prior to the m/c.

I think we'll just take it easy right now and see what happens! Thanks again
