I'm excited, on Friday we had a turaround with our financial situation and I feel like TTC is closer to being in reach! Woohoo! I still want to wait another month or two to get a really nice uterine lining in place. I recall reading another poster say that a baby aspirin a day helps with this...but I thought that would be harmful to a developing baby, say if I turned up preggers sooner than I thought? Basically the only birth control we're doing is withdrawal. I know that's not a sure thing, but it's what works for us right now, and I wouldn't mind an accidental pregnancy at this point. The reason I mention that is that if I was taking an aspirin and then accidentally got pregnant, I could possibly put the baby at risk. I'm not taking anything right now except multi's, because of the chance of getting preggers.
Anyway, I know I'm kinda rambling but just happy things are starting to go our way!

Baby aspirin is not harmful. You're just not supposed to take any NSAIDs after 32 weeks (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.) because it can cause low platelets and prolonged bleeding. I am on baby aspirin and will be for the duration of a pregnancy, as well as will be put on heparin....I will take it beyond 32 weeks, but I will be being monitored very closely to make sure I don't have those issues...the reason I will have to be on it is because I have a blood clotting issue.

The reason people take the baby aspirin is kinda to cover their bases in case they do maybe have a blood clotting issue that hasn't been discovered yet.

I was on baby aspirin during my whole pregnancy. It won't hurt the baby.

Joy that is wonderful news about your financial situation!! I'm glad things are starting to look up for you dear! As for the baby aspirin I'm on it as well for the duration of a pregnancy so it's not harmful. I hope you get a surprise BFP soon

i have another question about baby aspirin... i havent been told that blood clotting is my problem or anything, but i mean it maybe was one of the reasons... either way... is it safe to just take it without doctors permission? Just in case, i mean if i were pregnant... is that a bad idea?

After my 2nd miscarriage my dr put me on baby aspirin every day because she said it couldn't hurt and might help with my lining. But I was also on Lovenox (blood thinning) shots every day during my last pregnancy because I had slightly elevated RNA levels (which turned out to be nothing, but I will still be on Lovenox next time just in case). But she told me to start the baby aspirin again after the M/C. So as of now I take a prenatal (2 pills, one with DHA), B12, B complex and the baby aspirin. The only thing I change when I get pregnant is I stop the aspirin only because of the Lovenox shots.

Glad you may get to TTC soon!

I'm on baby aspirin (not doctor's orders just as a "can't hurt, may help" thing). I think I have a slight clotting disorder as I noticed a difference in my AF the first month I started taking it (difference for the good). I plan to stop taking it when I get to 30/32 weeks.

Aha thanks for the advice girlies! See it's weird because my prior midwife (3 years ago) told me once I found out I was preggers that I should avoid NSAIDs and anything that had aspirin in it, including Pepto Bismol. I've also read online that you're not really supposed to use acne products that have salysilic (spell?) acid in them...because that's the same thing as aspirin. So you can imagine my confusion!
I am pretty happy though that TTC is getting closer to my reach! I think once we get a few weeks under our belts of the new budget I can see if it's going to work. That way I know whether I will feel comfortable with it or not.
Anyway, thanks for the advice ladies! It might not be a bad idea for me to do the baby aspirin anyway, because I had had a prior blood clot in my lung at the beginning of the year. Even though I didn't turn up with any clotting disorders, they're saying I may have to do Heparin/Lovenox during the next pregnancy. (FX I don't have to! UGH for daily shots in the stomach!)

Joy if they said you might need the Heparin/Lovenox then I would highly recommend you taking the baby aspirin. That way it's in your system until you could start on the higher dosages. I'm really happy that your going to be trying again soon! Ahhhh so EXCITED for you!

i'll just ditto Katie...i'm prescribed a baby aspirin daily on back half of every cycle (and will switch to Lovenox upon a + hpt) so it's definitely not harmful and with a history of clots already i'm surprised they don't have you taking a daily one already. Good luck to you as you start TTC again!
