I am getting very frustrated. When I started trying for our 2nd baby I didn't know my Thyroid levels had to be lower than the normal low. So when I got pregnant after only 2months of trying for number 2 I was shocked. I carried that baby to 9weeks. What gets me is I have been trying since with really low numbers and I am not getting anything. My numbers when I got pregnant/MC my numbers they were at [5]. They are now around [.5]. I know my doctor wants them to be below [2]. I am thinking maybe my levels are now in the Hyperthyroid range and making it so I can conceive. Does anyone here know how I am feeling or what I am going through?

I made an appointment with my regular doctor, not my OB doctor. I am hoping they will be able to give me some answers. I go in this Tuesday to find something out. I know they will test my levels. Maybe they can find me a new OB. I love who I go to but he isn't willing to really do anything. I went to him about 3months ago and pretty much dismissed with being able to get help until I have been TTC up to a few months AFTER my MC date even though I was TTC 2months before I got pregnant. So pretty much he wont help me until this December even though that would put me at trying for over a year and a half.

Sorry I am now ranting ladies. I am just feeling so lost right now with TTC.

So sorry that you are having to go through all of these issue with your thyroid on top of everything else. I don't have any experience with thyroid issues but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone and that I think you are making a wise choice by talking to your primary care physician and possibly finding a better more proactive OB. Many of them will not continue any aggressive testing until after a year because they don't consider it fertility issues yet. But getting another OB that you are comfortable with would help put your mind at ease a little during this difficult journey. I hope that your next dr appointment goes well

So is your doctor trying to bring your levels up? .5 is really low, definitely verging into hyper range....my doc just tries to keep my levels between 1-2 i think. I hope your next appt brings you so answers ((((HUGS))))

I am sorry your dealing with this I know that when I saw my RE they told me that what is normal for someone not TTC is not the case with someone who is. And also what most OB's call normal is not for an RE. I wish I had more advice for you but if your not happy I do suggest switching doctors.

With my last MC I just got all the blood work done and my thyroid was 2.95 and the dr said if it is like that again she will put me on meds to lower it as they like to see 2-2.5 during pregnancy. Although the normal range (not during pregnancy -in canada) is 0.3-5.5 so I assumed that I was smack dab in the middle of normal.

I would talk to the dr and get your blood work done and hopefully they put you on something if your levels are higher than normal for when TTC.
Take care and good luck with your dr, I hope you get some answers

I'm sorry.
I don't have any advice about the thyroid, other than I concur with getting a new OB doctor. What about seeing an RE?
I don't think that there's any reason to wait a year and a half of TTC when you've already been waiting for so long. 6 months of extra heartache is just unnecessary. I don't know why doctors would have a problem with doing testing if a patient wants it. I know for me I have no desire to try for a year (if I end up with fertility issues) before looking into the problem. I want to be pregnant NOW.
I don't see why a woman has to wait if she's willing to pay for the testing, so long as the doctor is getting compensated, what does he care whether it's supposedly too early or not?
Sorry getting on a rant there...I hope you can get a good proactive doc/OB who will be on your side, trying to help you get pregnant.

I am hoping that they will bring them up some if they can. The only reason my OB tested it after my MC was because I had them look into my chart and see that I have Hypothyroidism.

Thanks sweetie. I feel crazy going to my regular doctor for this but they are very understanding. Also I passed the year mark for TTC 2months ago. I went to my OB thinking he would help me back in May. That is when he told me that I haven't been trying that long. He counted back to the end of my MC and then took 2months from that saying most women don't ovulate right off. So the way he added it up was that I had only been TTC for like 4months and not 7months past my MC date then.

I would say get someone who will work with you, whether the math adds up to what you think it does or not. I think there are too many docs who seem to just brush ladies off (that I've heard of in here) and meanwhile, they could have been finding out what the problem was. I don't see any harm in shopping around until you get what you want. I think as women we do know our bodies pretty well. I know I wouldn't want to wait until December.

I had a good appointment. I go back Tuesday for my results. My doctor isn't in this week because he is gone to China to adopt a baby. His nurse gave me 3 names of other OB's. Idk if I should wait for my results from my Thyroid test or go a head and make an appointment with another OB???

Maybe just call the other OBs and see what their schedule is like, that way if it's a little bit of a wait you'll be able to put your name in early.

That is a really good idea Joy. That didn't even pass my mind. I was just going to wait until next week and see what my tests said. I am think that if my levels are way to low than that is why I am not getting pregnant. Either way I need another OB at least until I get pregnant. I wouldn't mind returning to the OB I have after because he has a good bedside manner. He delivered my daughter and has been delivering babies for almost 30years now.

Oh good, well that would work out nicely then, if you could get your thyroid under control and then go back to your favorite OB. I know for me I want to feel really comfortable with my OB when the time comes. Unfortunately I can't have the same OB that delivered my son because she lives up in Alaska and I'm in Washington now. I am a little bummed about that, but my family doctor also does OB so I might just have her do my OB care when the time comes. She wants me to see a MFHS too.
