I just had a miscarriage at 9 weeks, went in to the er today since I have been bleeding and started having cramps today. Come to find out I did have a miscarriage. I am just wondering how long I should wait until we start TTC again?

I'm in the same boat. I had a missed miscarriage that we discovered 4 weeks ago and had to have a d&c last night due to excessive blood loss. DH and I are already discussing TTC but I have found conflicting info. I've read that you can try right away (as soon as the bleeding stops) but I've also read that some recommend to wait for 6 cycles or more

I am so very sorry for your loss. Each doctor will tell you something different. Usually it ranges from 1 cycle to 6 cycles. However there is no medical reason to wait. If your body isn't ready it won't get pregnant. Waiting one cycle is recommended for dating purposes. And sometimes I would say wait longer if you don't feel ready emotionally. TTCAL can take a toll just not on your body but your emotional well being.

I'm sorry for your loss. I was told after my loss that it depends how far along you were when you had a loss, because the farther along you were, the bigger the placenta was and the more impact it had on your uterus... so more recovery time would be desired. When I had my loss at 6-7 weeks, I was told to wait 1 cycle before TTC again. I imagine with a loss later than that, they might want you to wait 2 or 3 cycles. But I also had a D&C, not a natural miscarriage... maybe if you m/c naturally you don't have to wait as long? You will also want to make sure that the m/c is complete before you TTC again... like, that there's no retained tissue or anything. I guess the answer is: ask your OB, since every person and every loss is different. I hope you feel better soon...

{HUGS} to you. I had my miscarriage 11 days ago. I'm so sorry for your loss. We have decided to try right away. I have endometriosis BAD and the longer it takes to get pregnant again, the harder it's going to be.

Thank you all, when I was at the er yesterday I believe the doctor told me to wait 2 cycles but I am not 100% sure since he had told me soooo much. I do have an appointment on Friday with my ob so I will talk to her about it then. My DH and I were so happy since we finally decided to have a baby and it happened so quick. I have been told that it might have something to do with just getting off the pill since I got off of it and got pregnant 1 week later, it could still be in my system and it effected the pregnancy. I think we are going to try again in the 2 cycles, thinking prolly the end of January.

I am so sorry for your loss. I wonder if the pill could have been an issue! The same thing happened to me. I stopped taking the pill and got pregnant the next week. We miscarried at 6 weeks. The doctor told us to wait one cycle. The miscarriage happened in October and I just finished my first ovulation cycle so I'm praying. Good luck to you!

I had a missed m/c and d&c at 12 weeks. I was told to wait for 3 months (not necessarily 3 cycles) before ttc. Something concerning allowing uterine tissue to build back up to better support a pregnancy. I go in for my 3 wk check-up appt this week and will be asking my regular OB as well to see if there are differing opinions.

My Dr said after a natural miscarriage it was wait to ttc until after first period ...so one cycle. She said it is emotional healing time, dating and a chance to normalize. I've heard after d&c, a lot of drs recommend 3 cycles to let the uterine lining come back....but I've also heard that is negotiable. I think the biggest things are getting your hcg levels low enough and being emotionally ready.

Yea I went to the doctor yesterday and she told me 1 or 2 cycles. I have to go in one more time for more blood test to check my hcg level but it is already under 100. I am thinking we are going to wait till January.

Sorry for your loss. I too m/c last week at 9 weeks, although I didn't have any spotting or anything and had to have a D&C last Friday. I am anxious for my follow up next week to see what my hcg level is. Reassuring to hear that yours is going down fast.

From what I've read it seems like most doctors are okay with ttc again after you get your first cycle back.
