Our school district lets out early Friday for spring break! I'm very happy about that. We don't have any plans yet but we will most likely do a day trip somewhere. Last year we went to San Antonio for the day. The kids always want to do something water related, but it is still chilly out for that, to me. I need 80's-90's for outdoor water activities. I'm trying to think of other fun day trips. Feel free to suggest ideas! I'm an hour south of Houston. So, we have done all the Houston/Galveston stuff.

Anyone have spring break plans?

Sometimes I miss spring break! I hope you have a great week!!! Are there any zoos or aquariums close by? Those make great day/ afternoon trips.

I miss San Antonio! When we lived in Corpus Christi we'd shoot up there here and there.

Our spring break is very late this year, not until April 22-26. We're heading down to Disney and I can't wait! Hopefully I'll be pregnant then but not dealing with morning sickness!

Have yall been to Austin? I really love Austin if that is somewhere you are interested in then I have a lot of suggestions for there.

There is also a big park just north of Houston - Huntsville State Park - it is really beautiful with giant trees and a lake to walk around. We have done a day trip there before.

If you were looking for a closer trip - have you guys already done Kemah? You could make a day out of that and go to Clear Lake Park on the way. They have one of those water playground things if the kids wanted to play in that

I live right around here too so if you want any more suggestions or info on the places I listed just let me know!!

My parents are taking us to Hawaii this year for a spring break/they think we need to get away trip. So we are super excited about that - its the last week of March.

Great idea! I love zoos and aquariums. The drawback to doing a trip to one is that I worked at Houston zoo for 9 years and still volunteer there so it's not as exciting anymore to just see the animals from the public viewing areas. Lol. The kids still like to go sometimes. Maybe that would be fun for them if I can talk one of my zoo buddies into a behind the scenes tour for them.

I love San Antonio too. Lots of fun! We are going to Corpus for a day or two this summer. I'm looking forward to that! Have a great Disney trip!

We have been to Austin several times, but haven't found a lot that the girls are into... Ages 15,13, and 6. Any suggestions? We did do a weekend at Huntsville a few years ago. I enjoyed the statue and paddle boating. Yes, we have done kennah and the Clear Lake park too. I love that park! We live about 25-30 mins from that park.
Hawaii will be awesome! Have fun!

Some ideas for Austin:

-Town Lake - that goes right through down town and you can rent paddle boats or kayaks there and there a trail that you can walk around the lake as well.

-The capitol and walking around downtown Austin can be fun although I am not sure how much the kids would enjoy that

-Mount Bonnell has a few little hikes and some great views from the top.

-The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower center is pretty fun - although I havent been there in quite a while.

There are also just several fun places I love to eat when I go there - like Trudys for Mexican food and there is also the food trucks place downtown which is fun to walk around and try different things from. Also, Barton Springs pool is always fun - but it is way too chilly for that right now but in case yall are ever back in the summer
