Im so frustrated with my OB and really don't know what to do anymore. I could cry!!!!!!!!!!
My hubby and I have been trying to conceive since May 2011 after we had our miscarriage.
Shortly after the miscarriage I was diagnosed with PCOS and started on Metformin. Had my HSG and tubes are free, hubby is perfect with his count.
7/2011- 9/2011 I was on 2 cycles of Clomid 50mg, uncontrolled, OPK's only, and they were negative.
01/2012- 08/2012 I was on 5 cycles of Clomid 100mg, uncontrolled, OPK's only, I had two positive OPK's during that time frame, but very late CD 21+.
After some nagging and asking a bunch of questions they finally decided to monitor me and use HCG when applicabble.
Due to cysts in between cycles I had my first controlled cycle with Clomid in 10/2012, I did have two mature follicles on CD 15, had the HCG trigger but my lining was only 6mm. BFN.
Second controlled cycle with Clomid was 12/2012, one follicle CD 14, HCG trigger, lining only 5mm, BFN.
Third controlled cycle with Clomid and actually Gonal F!!! 1/2013.. I had 3 mature follicles on CD 15, HCG trigger, lining was only 4.3mm. They went ahead and did 1st IUI. BFN. OB at that time mentioned if lining is thinner with next cycle we would try Femara and Gonal F..I was excited. I was asking for a change in meds for the longest time and it always got rejected.
Fourth controlled cycle with Clomid and Gonal F 2/2013.. One mature follicle CD 12, HCG trigger, lining was a shocking 2mm and they went ahead and did an IUI telling me "oh i have seen women get pregnant with this lining" and "i doubt your lining is perfect naturally anyways".... I was in shock. Of course I knew it wasnt gonna work with a lining that thin but then there is this thing called hope..BFN.
After the last IUI my OB told me "well if you dont get pregnant this time we have to do surgery".. I was frustrated, obviously my lining isnt thick enough, how can they expect for a bean to attach and stick???? And where is this whole surgery thing coming from? Nobody mentioned anything before. When I asked about the Femara/ Gonal F combo I was told "no."
Today is CD2.. I have been trying to contact my OB since this morning to see if they are willing to do the Femara/ Gonal F combo and so far I have been ignored. Nobody has returned my calls..Im feeling lost, frustrated and angry.
I am looking into finding a new place, what would you guys do?
Run run run. What kind of OB would have you do that many cycles on Clomid?! You're not supposed to do more than 6. Some say 6 in a row, but others say 6 in a LIFETIME. It's time to move on to a reproductive endocrinologist. They'll be able to help you and monitor you better. Sounds like your OB doesn't know what he/she is doing, or just wants to milk you or your insurance on all the IUI and extra visit charges. Drop this doc like a hot potato. He/she is doing you more harm than good.
Also...OBs don't do the Gonal F, etc. That's beyond their expertise and is what REs deal with it. So that's why she said no. Seriously, call an RE. You're probably out this cycle for getting meds from them, but you should be able to get in soon enough to be all ready for the next cycle.
I am so sorry you're having to deal with such an incompetent doctor.
Ugh yours was a hard story to read...2mm lining is ridiculous, no good doctor would have expectation of success with that. I was removed off Clomid after 3 cycles because I also experienced uterine lining thinning side effect on it...it seems clear that's happening to you, and Femara is the common next med approach in that situation.
Are you seeing a reproductive endocrinologist or just an OB? I would really recommend you seek care of RE next - I think your situation needs better monitoring and a willingness (which you obviously have, I mean the doctor's) to shake up your med protocol.
KUP on how you're doing, I hope you find a new dr soon!

If I were you I would change OB ASAP. The fact that you have done so many cycles on clomid is not worrying (you are allowed to do up to 12 cycles but after 3 it tends to works less with every cycle) but the fact that ur lining is thinning out is showing you that your body is not taking to clomid as much as it should. With such a thin lining your chances of miscarrying increase a lot
Also, you should NEVER take clomid and not be monitored. With injectibles (Gonal F, etc) you cannot do a cycle unmonitored for sure as you need to be checked from around cd7 (at least over here that's how it works) as you do not want to hyperstimulate.
Good luck on finding another OB. If I were you though I would skip a cycle or two to allow your lining to take a break. After two cycles mine went back to its normal thickness. It's not easy to decide to skip cycles but sometimes it's better to wait than be sorry.
Finally it seems that we are starting the IVF process - will see how it goes...... Forever missing our two little previous miracles.

I made an appointment with an RE for next Thursday. Fingers crossed he won't give me such a hard time. We are definitely skipping this cycle and possible the next. Hopefully we will see a BFP soon, after almost two years of ttc we are pretty down.
