Okay. So, I had another beta this morning. It's been a rough week of waiting. On 4/10 my hcg was 159. On 4/12, it was 181. On 4/15, it was either 269 or 296 (I was too stressed to remember). Today 4/18 ... 870!
It was actually a pretty rollercoaster afternoon. The OB's office called me about 12:30 (right when I was expecting the results) but it wasn't the nurse or my doctor, it was the insurance paperwork lady calling with some confusing message about me getting an ultrasound. Now, I knew after Monday 4/15 that my OB wanted to send me to a consult with the MFM specialists at another hospital. Nothing about an ultrasound. But the insurance lady today said she'd give me a referral for the local hospital to do the u/s, if I couldn't get an appointment there next week. I was pretty confused throughout the whole conversation, and the lady said, "The doctor wants to make sure you have this done next week since your hcg went up a little bit." Then she gave me a bunch of flurried instructions about picking up the paperwork, and that was it.
A "little bit"? She didn't tell me the # at that time. It just left me more confused. So, I decided to just go into their office and pick up the paperwork, and maybe I'd find out for sure.
So, a few hours later, I'm in the elevator on the way up to the office. It stops a few floors from my destination- and who gets in but my OB?! It was awesome to see her. We were able to chat for a few minutes- she said my number was 800 something which she was happy about, though she still wants me to see the high-risk MFMs since they can do more monitoring without all the hoops she has to jump through. I told her I was concerned about the slow early rising, and she said that it was really early (I'm not sure of my LMP) and early-early numbers don't always show things clearly. I asked her frankly about my chances this time, after 2 losses and the slow early rise. She said it's really impossible to say, but she feels it's better than 50%.
So, 870. Things are definitely doubling now. I feel... relieved. Obviously not out of the woods. But at least I was out of THAT woods. I don't have another hcg scheduled, but will get an ultrasound next week.
