I have read quite a few people on JM mention taking low dose/baby aspirin while ttc. I had never heard of that so I started researching it this morning...very interesting!

So, would it hurt for me to take one every day while/before ttc? How long do you take it for once you do actually get pregnant?

Any information you all could give me would be great

For me, I didn't test positive for any clotting disorders, but I took a baby aspirin because my periods were of the devil. I had a running Rx of Vicodin because of the massive clots I would pass. I started taking it in the middle of a loss cycle, waited a cycle and then TTC and got Marsi. I could have TTC the cycle I waited because of the stress of the losses. That period was the easiest one I had ever had. It gave me the confidence to give TTC 1 more time. I truly attribute my rainbow with baby aspirin.

I take it because of my blood clotting gene mutation, where you have a known issue you take it after ovulation (usually started around DPO3-4) and I will take it the entire pregnancy (along with Lovenox, a blood thinner injection) and for 4-6 weeks post partum.

Most REs will not have you take baby aspirin continuously (at start/middle of cycle) as over time extended use of aspirin can impact your ability to ovulate.

I take a daily low-dose aspirin under the advice of my OB and MFM specialist. I did a full RPL panel and did NOT test positive for any blood clotting disorders (with the exception of a single MTHFR mutation which is not thought to cause blood clotting). She said it's good for my heart, and in some women with recurrent loss seems to help, even when there's no clear "need" for it.

I haven't seen an RE, but I understood this was just something I could/should take daily, indefinitely. L-SBB, can you share the research about aspirin affecting your ability to ovulate?

I was told by an OB to make sure to take it before O in my case because I was getting the clots forming in the lining which made implantation surface not great for a sustainable pregnancy. I know that it is different for everyone, but for me, I actually ovulated before my normal ovulation. I was averaging CD 16-20 ovulation then after taking it, it went to 15 and then 14 when I conceived Marsi.

I'll have to look to see if there's any articles online about it - I've had 2 different REs tell me the same thing though, that over time (so keep in mind the women they see are generally struggling with long term infertility, so we may not be talking 1-3 months, but rather taking it for 6 months, a year, multiple years) that aspirin has a negative effect on ovulation and can even stop you from ovulating. So at their practice, no one took aspirin continuously through a cycle - we always had a timeframe we started (and then stopped if pregnancy didn't occur) each cycle. In my case I started generally around 4DPO and stopped at 14DPO or when AF started, whichever was sooner), if pregnancy was confirmed then you continued to take daily.

ETA: here's one online article (I haven't tried to dig up the underlying medical journal report it references yet) that talks about it...interestingly apparently this concern also applies to other drugs like Advil too: http://natural-fertility-info.com/co...fertility.html

That makes a lot of sense. I only took it for 2.5 months before getting pregnant with Marsi.

My RE had me start after O. Then stop when (if) AF arrives.
