I had a dr appointment today for lab work for my "final blood draws" for this miscarriage. Ideally they should've been 0 or at least <5 (which is a negative to them) but my dr emailed me (after office hours grrrr) to tell me that the results came back at 17. which is still technically positive. I feel like tearing my hair out. He wants me back in there in another week to test again. I just want this to be over so we can start again!! When I called BF on his break to tell him the results he asked what this means. And I truly have no idea. I hate that the dr didn't feel that it was enough to call me about. *heavy sigh* so I guess that's my update.

I'm sorry- it's frustrating. Truly, though, it doesn't "mean" anything. Your levels are dropping, they'll drop at whatever rate they drop, and there's really nothing anyone can do about it. Big hugs! I know how hard it is, but sometimes you just have to release your expectations and allow your body to heal/recover at its own pace. 17 does not sound abnormal.

I know it's frustrating. Our bodies go through so much with a loss. Your numbers are dropping and I know you want them to drop quicker but sometimes our bodies fight so hard to hang on to those hormones (it's a natural thing to them). I hope when you go back next week your levels with be zero. We are here for you!

I am sure you are feeling frustrated, I know that I am.
My situation: Natural m/c confirmed a week ago with no sac in uterus, numbers were 2162 today. Dr said repeat in a week and if numbers are still over 500 do a d+c. I guess that the ladies are right, our bodies will do what they want to do, when they want to do it and we have no control over it.
Hang in there and I hope you get a great big ZERO next draw.

Thanks guys... I just wish the dr would try to understand that I've never been through this and being incredibly vague and expecting me to just know what's going on is just gonna confuse and frustrate me.....

Update!!!

I had my second "aftermath" draw today, and my Quant HCG levels came out at 4, which is NEGATIVE!!!! Thank goodness, I won't be needing a d&c. So that means the worst part is over, and now we have to wait at least one cycle to try again (dr says 2, but I highly doubt we would get pregnant the first cycle, and we are ready now!)

I wonder why the Dr is having you wait. I see a specialist and he let us start trying again as soon as the bleeding stopped. Hmmmm well it's up to you but I don't see why you would have to wait.
I am happy your numbers are finally in the negative.

I am so glad your levels dropped! Every doctor seems to suggest something different after a loss. I think if you had a natural miscarriage it would be fine to try again next cycle but I know it is different for every situation. I hope you get your sticky BFP soon!!
