Hello ladies! It seems as though my body is responding well to the misoprostol (I have 1 dose left to take tonight). I had a follow up appointment today at EPAU and had another transvaginal US done. There is very little remnants of my pregnancy left in my uterus and the doctor is certain it will pass on its own. YAY NO DNC! I go back next Friday for an hcg draw and repeat transvaginal US to be sure the MC is complete.

So now begins my questions. Please bare with me! I have never actively TTC. With this pregnancy we were NTNP for the good part of 2013. I don't even know where to begin. I do have a BBT but I am not sure if temping would be accurate for someone like me. I work shift work at 2 jobs, days, evenings, nights and my sleeping pattern is all over the place. What do you ladies think? Will it be accurate with capturing OD? I have been thinking about using OPK. When is it best to start using these? Do you test everyday? What time of day? What are other ways to find out when you O? I try to pay attention to my CM but I don't know what exactly I am looking for. I need your help please!

I don't think we will actively TTC until after my first cycle post MC but I want to be prepared!

Congrats on moving forward! That's great news!!

You'll hear a lot of people say you MUST bbt at the SAME TIME - and it may matter more for some people than others, but if I were you, I'd try to temp for a couple cycles and see what you get. My gyn's philosophy is to temp when you wake up - whatever time that is - she felt it's more important to temp after at least 3 hours of sleep..

But shift work may impact it - you'll never know til you try - can't hurt anything and once you get into practice, it's really no big deal. Worth a shot IMO. Do it for at least 2-3 cycles though because it takes some finesse and time to get into the groove. good luck!

Glad to hear that things are clearing up for you so that you can move on!

I've temped in the past and thought it was a valuable tool to confirm ovulation, but it also drove me batty watching my temps after and wondering what they meant. I have a 13 month old that still wakes several times a night, so like you my sleep is all over the place. So I decided not to bother with temping for the time being. I've had really good luck with OPKs... with my daughter I was using the Target brand and this time I ordered a big batch of Wondfos from Amazon. They say that it depends on how long your cycle is for when you should start using OPKs... I think cycle day 10 is what I've heard for a short cycle. I'm paranoid so I usually start using them as soon as AF leaves. That way I know that I'm not gonna miss a freak early O either. But that's just me... I'll use them until I get a positive and then keep using them until I get a negative so that I know the surge is over. I usually get 2 or 3 positives each cycle so there's lots of BDing going on! DH hates it! lol As for when you pee on them, the directions generally say that you should use late morning or early afternoon, but they also say that you want to try and get at least a four hour hold. The only time I ever get that is in the morning so I usually just do it when I first get up. Some people will do morning and night when they think O is coming because the surge can be short and you could conceivably miss it in the 24 hours. This is why the big batch of Wondfos can be great because they're so cheap!

You could also do a little research and look at cervical mucous and cervical position as an indicator of ovulation. The best CM is the watery stuff that stretches out between your fingers, you'll see it called egg white cervical mucous or EWCM. And your cervix raises up when you ovulate, so if you get familiar with your body you can feel when it's moved. I believe that common wisdom is to DTD every other day leading up to your fertile days and then every day when you know you're going to O and the three days after. I believe that I've heard that you don't generally want to go more than once a day because the sperm need time to build back up to big numbers and that the advice is different if you're dealing with low sperm count.

Mostly I'd say be prepared to feel like a crazy person! I remember after we lost my first pregnancy I felt a compulsion to get pregnant again right away and it was really hard every time it didn't happen. But this is a great place to hang out while you're trying!

Wow thank you Erin and thank you Becky! Very useful information! I don't think DBF will want to BD that much! Poor guy is on call 24hrs a day every other day. We might get disturbed DTD! lol

I think I will look into those wondfo OPKs!

Hey Kristy! Just checking in on you to see how you are doing after everything. Yesterday was the first day in a week that I didn't bleed. I have moved on but have to say I'm jealous of you TTC right away. I'm going to be waiting until this fall and hoping for a spring baby again since this surprise didn't work out for us.

Temping wasn't for me but for some women it works wonders on figuring out what your body is doing... for me using OPK's and also charting my CM works well. Your CM changes throughout your cycle. Here is some good information on that. How to Check Cervical Mucus: 5 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow

As far as OPK's... some people can get by with testing once a day (between 2pm and 8pm is best). Others need to test twice a day to make sure they don't miss their LH surge.

How long did you bleed for? Tomorrow will be 1 week since my appt and taking misoprostol and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight! We are going to start trying with my first cycle although I would love to have a summer baby! I hope everything is going well for you.

I didn't think there was an end in site, but it stopped all of a sudden! Started bleeding last Sunday morning and it picked up on Monday or Tuesday. I was done bleeding Saturday night. I go today for my hcg draw to make sure there isn't anything else....

T&P are with you! Hoping that your numbers are 0 and that this difficult time has ended for you and that you heal and move on in due time. I have a follow up appt at EPAU this Friday for hcg draw and transvag US to check to make sure everything is complete!
