Let's see, we're still working on the dining room, so today we go to menards to pick out a new door that opens into the porch, and get the wiring roughed in. It will be nice to actually have outlets in that room! We really think that room was the absolute original structure of the house, and that the deed lies when it says the house was built in 1901. The deed shows in 1856 the property went from $300 to $3000, so we think that's when the dining room was put up bc everything else looks to be an add-on from there. I feel kind of bad throwing out the original door, that thing was at the very least 106 years old and in not too bad of condition, just too caked with paint so any fresh paint just peeled off. Yuck! And judging by the rest of the house, the condition of the door probably wasn't good underneath all that paint. I did save all the hardware, though, bc it was so pretty.
maybe if it stays nice outside we'll re-frame, re-install the big window that was done in such a hurry last fall.
Oh, yeah, gotta get my butt moving and get dog food today!
