I swear, that dr that did my last surgery must be a complete idiot. I sent him a letter with pictures detailing what I wanted to know about my left tube and the possible re-growth of it, or what the original dr thinks is a new blood vessel. Even after the letter and the pictures, he still gave me an answer that didn’t make any sense!
According to the message left by the nurse he now says that it looks like 2/3 of it was removed, and that what remains is just dilated, and he does not recommend the HSG test because of risk of further infection. Okay, WHAT???? So I called back and talked to a nurse, and I said, what does that mean, dilated, oh, she said, just that it was enlarged during the surgery. I said, okay, I get the width part, but what about the length part? That’s NOT where it was cut off and there's ALOT more there then when it was removed! So she left another message for the dr regarding that.
I swear, I am almost tempted (just for this whole question) to just go back to the original dr that removed the left tube even with his horrible, horrible nursing staff. And how am I going to get an infection from that (unless they royally screw up)? Since I never had an infection in the first place, what does he mean, FURTHER?
Can I strangle him???
I plan to wait for his next answer, then depending on what he says this time, call the original dr back and schedule the HSG down here bc obviously this dr isn't going to schedule one. This is ridiculous. How can two doctors have such different opinions? I guess that's why the term "second opinion" came about.
beating head against wall . . .

ETA I emailed this mess to my mom (she's a nurse's assistant in the orthopedic department of the hospital where she lives), she was with me the day of this last surgery, she thinks that this dr has forgotten all the details and just doesn't want to admit it. I am starting to think she might be right!

I also think your mom is right! I think he has no idea what your medical history is and is too lazy to go look it up. Or maybe he thinks he remembers your case and really doesn't!

I am sorry its so frustrating for you!

Wel I heard back from the first doc today, the one that did the first surgery. He agrees that the other dr has probably forgotten the details and that his answers didn't make any sense. He said that if I didn't get the HSG I would always wonder, so it is totally up to me, and that if it is the tube, and if it is open, I need to be watched carefully in the event of another ectopic. He also said he's never had a case of infection from an HSG and since I've never had an infection he doesn't know what that other dr was talking about! I also told him I hadn't had an AF yet, and that I thought I O'd a little over 2 weeks ago and that I'm normally a very regular 28-day gal. He said that if I don't start my cycle within another 2 weeks I should get that checked out.
Now here's the really nice part! He also remembered without me saying anything that with our insurance we get a much better discount using Fairview than Mayo and so I told him my surgery with him cost me about $1700, and the latest one has only cost me about $500, so you see what I mean about insurance discounts! I told him I wished he worked at Fairview! So he said before we do anything else, he wants to send my insurance info to a guy he knows in that dept bc he thinks they can work out a deal with the insurance as they've done it before. How nice is he? Man I wish I could have him as my OB and get the same wonderful surgery staff as Fairview!!! Sucks, I like everything better about Fairview except the OB, and I like HIM better from Mayo but not anything else from there! I told him that if we do ever get to have kids (and stay with him as the OB) he can NEVER go on vacation! Yeah, he just laughs!

Well, he made me feel better anyway
