I think I may be beginning to miscarry. Since yesterday I have been having brown spotting. It comes and goes, sometimes it is just a smear on the TP and other times it is clumps of brown mucus-like stuff. Is this the beginning of a m/c? I am cramping some but it is very mild. My OB couldn't find the baby (only a sac) at my 8 week u/s and told me that I might miscarry and she told me that it usually lasts 5 or 6 hours of heavy clotty bleeding but she didn't say anything about the brown stuff. Is this normal to have before you actually miscarry? Thanks in advance.

Very sorry your going through this hun. I went to see my dr and got my levels checked and an u/s done. Was told everything was ok but later that night I started to spot pink, it got worse the next day so I went to the dr and was told levels have dropped and I was having a miscarriage. I would have your levels checked to see if they are going down, try to hang in there hun.

I'm so sorry sweetie. Yes the brown discharge is blood, and can mean a miscarriage or can just be spotting. My two miscarriages started out with blood, not brown, if it helps. I bled like a normal period for both, except somewhat heavier. If you soak a pad in an hour then you should call the hospital, but otherwise you're probably fine. My first m/c the doctor saw a heartbeat at 7 and at 8 weeks, and the second m/c there was no heartbeat at 6 weeks. All ultrasounds were done because I was cramping and spotting ("threatened miscarriage"). Have a quantitative beta hCG done, it will tell you what is going on. (((HUGS)))

I am sorry that this is happening to you right now, I do hope that it is just spotting and nothing serious.

To answer your question, yes, that is how my m/c started out, it was VERY light brown discharge when I wiped and at first I noticed it in my underwear, this started about two days b4 I actually started to bleed. Once I started to bleed it was more like clots, sorry if TMI. Also wanted to let you know, the girls in Pregnancy Loss are really great if you have questions, they truly were my saving grace when I started to m/c.

I had started spotting also, right after DH and I DTD. It was very very very light, pink tinged discharge I would say. Then it turned to brown and was a bit more of it. I thought I would be okay, but it got heavier and heavier. From when the spotting started, I started to miscarry 2 days later, and fully passed everything 2 days after that.

If cramping is present with the bleeding, then I would be a little worried. I had mild cramping too, until the heavy bleeding kicked in, that is when it got stronger.

You are in my thoughts *hugs*

I'm so sorry...I had a blighted ovum so I had no symptoms. I went to my Dr visit and found out during the ultrasound that the baby stopped growing. I never bled until after my D&C.
