I am part of a miscarriage support message board (Silent Grief) and someone posted that we write into Oprah about doing a show on M/C and S/B and it worked. I was so happy to see that. People had written to her before, but never a huge group like that..must have gotten her to think.

And Dr. Phil will more then likely follow suit...espeically if written into about doing a show about it.

I think those that haven't had m/c or s/b need to see the show and those that have had will recieve help f/ it.

I wrote into the show telling them a little bit about my story. It was in the "appear on the show" section. It probably won't go anywhere, but I did it on a whim.

Thanks for posting this. I wrote in, here's what I wrote...

In Sept. 2006, we decided that we were ready to have another baby. We have a beautiful 4 yr old daughter. We got pregnant with her on our honeymoon & I had a perfect pregnancy, even delivered on my due date! We started trying for another in Sept. & by Oct. I was preg. Thinking of my previous pregnancy, I thought this one would also be a breeze! I called my Dr & went for my 6 wk appt. He did an u/s & saw the gestational sac & yolk sac. I asked the Dr if we should have seen a fetus at this point & he assured me that everything was fine. A few days went by & I felt uneasy about my appt. I called the Dr’s & asked if I could come in earlier. They scheduled an appt. at my 8 wk point. The morn. of my appt., I decided that I would take my daughter with me to the Dr’s & then drop her off at daycare. The Dr. shut off the light & began the u/s. After a moment of silence, the Dr. softly said “I am so sorry Stacey but this is not a viable pregnancy & you are going to miscarry”. Those words coming from the Dr’s mouth…I could physically feel them hit me…they took my breath away. At that moment, my whole world stopped & I could not breathe. It was like those words came out of his mouth in slow motion…I could see them coming towards me, getting ready to hit. When they did, it was like they drew the oxygen out of me. A week later I went in for a D&C. Knowing that I was entering that hospital preg & leaving there empty tore me apart. I have never ran in my entire life, yet I had this incredible urge to put on my sneakers & run as fast as I can until I could not breathe anymore. I returned to work a wk later. No one at work knew I was preg., so I had to pretend that it never happened. Friends & Family who did know avoided me like some horrible disease, not knowing what to say. When someone did offer comfort, it was “It wasn’t meant to be”, or “At least you weren’t far along”. Our angel grew wings & is in Heaven now & will always be missed.

I am sorry about your experience. I have had one MC and am currently going through alot of things with the doctor to see what is wrong. Its exhausting at times. I do agree the hardest part is how people react. Not only do you have to deal with your life changing forever and the feeling of emptiness, but you are trying to make other people feel comfortable enough around you to be normal. It isn't like anyone who hasn't been through this knows what you are thinking or feeling and they probably don't know how to react. I just think sometimes when people avoid you, or the issue its because it makes them feel less awkward around you. Its sticky all the way around! Good luck with the show!
