first off let me say who ever said the pain was equal to a pap smear is full of hooey! that crap hurt like ######! i have a high pain toleralnce and even took 2 advil an hour before it was done and even with doing deep breathes it hurt like hell../ once they got the cathetier in which was ore of a pinching stinging sensation, they wanted me to skooch back on the xray table which was hard to do cause it felt like the catheture was gonna fallout... it didnt though thank God! but when they but the dye in OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! i thought i was dying and gonna pass out it hurt so bad! But the good news is the doc said my uterus was georgous and that everything is ok!! he said he had never seen one go that fast... meaning how quicky the dye filled my uterus and then went through my tubes.. the doc asked several times after if i was ok... i told him it hurt like hell... he gave me a rx for pain meds to take home... once i got into the bathroom i peed and felt a burning snesation and there was a small amount of tissue and blood in the toliet similar to whata clot looks like during af! sorry if too much info.... doc said that can happen when tubes are blocked and it pushes the tissue either into the uterus or abdomenal cavity, but that i should be ok.. well no more clotty things thank God again! but i am still bleeding spotting this afternoon! so all e have left to do is dh's sa and hes dragging his feet about it but he needs to get it done tomarrow or today i told him.... i said look i went through all that pain your part doesnt even hurt it feels good so you can do the sa.... anyhow thats how it went but doc said everything looks great!

I'm sorry it was so painful, but I'm glad everything looked good. I wonder if the experience of the person doing it makes a difference? I have to say that I do NOT have a particularly high pain tolerance and for me it really wasn't any worse than a pap at all. The 3 of us were chatting about our kids and Easter and before I knew it it was over. I guess I was lucky though.

ETA: I bet you are right about the pain being caused by whatever was forced out. I had some spotting after, but not nearly as much as what you described. Sorry for your pain.

Oh, Starry, I had horrible pain with mine too! I cramped so bad during and afterwards, I wanted to go into a fetal position! No one told me to take anything before going in, so I didn't have any Advil or anything. Worst pain I've ever experienced.

Glad to hear your test came back with good results!
