I was pregnant for nearly 7 months, our baby was stillborn just 3 weeks ago. I took one of my dollar store hpt's just out of curiousity and it is still very positive. Just wondering how long it takes for the hormones to get out of my system? Also wondering--if my body still has pregnancy hormone then I won't ovulate will I?

I don't know the answer to your question, I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for your loss.

I was only pregnant 9w3d and it took 9 weeks for a pregnancy test to come back negative. I do know that it is much faster for other women though. So really there is no way of knowing how long it will take. I know that's not the answer your looking for. About the ovulating, it really depends on your body. Some women do, and others don't. That's the worst part about suffering a pregnancy loss....there aren't any clear answers to anything.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine.

Thank you all for your kind responses. I couldn't find any info on the web about this since it varies so much with every woman, as some of you said.

9 weeks, wow. I sure hope it doesn't take that long. I was kind of hoping to have a few negatives and then have a bfp within 9 weeks, but I guess my body might know better.

I will just keep trying to test maybe once a week until they start fading.

Thanks again for your help, just wish there was an answer.

I know I wasn't as far along as you, only 21 weeks, but we lost Keelie on April 9 and had a negative test two and a half weeks later.

I thought the hcg level stopped rising by the second trimester though, so since we were both in it I thought it would be roughly around the same time. Well maybe mine will take an extra week or so. I will test again next week just for curiousity sake.

I had a D&C at what would have been 9 weeks for me, and my HPT came back negative 2 weeks later.

I'm so sorry for your loss...my heart goes out to you!

I am so sorry for your loss.

I was only 7 weeks along, but my HPT was negative 16 days later, after my D&C. I think Britannie might be able to answer your question a bit better. And maybe the Stillborn board? Sorry I couldn't be more help.
