Ok, so I have heard in the past that it's not yet proven if getting your hair highlighted (hair color in general) when pregnant, especially early on, is harmful or not. I really need to get my highlights done. But right now, I'm scared to even call my stylist, cause I don't know yet if I am pregnant.
I guess I should just wait until I know for sure before I make the appointment.
What is your take on this? Safe or not?

perfectly safe whether your pregnant or not. the reason they say that is that years ago color did contain harmful ingredients, but it has changed over the years and there is nothing in hair color that will hurt the baby, no matter how far along you are. i colored my hair the whole way through my pregnancies with both the girls. the only problem with color when pregnant is that the color sometimes doesn't take because of changing hormones. other than that, no worries!

I've heard both ways - some that swear it will harm and some that swear it won't. Depending on your hair of course you can give yourself very natural highlights using lemon juice diluted with water and then let your hair dry in the sun. I'm a natural light blonde anyway so I just use straight lemon juice when I want to lighten it a bit. Oh, and chamomile tea (pour it over your hair, using a bowl to catch the drips and repeat several times with what drips into the bowl) is supposed to brighten hair for brunettes - I tried this once, and although it made my hair very, very soft, it did darken it a bit
Good luck!

don't use the lemon juice, with your hair as dark as it is you will end up a lovely shade of orange plus if you already have color on your hair you will end up with a huge mess. if you really are that worried about it, you can always get the highlights pulled through a cap so the bleach doesn't come anywhere near your scalp.

My stylist says highlights are the safest. Just make sure the area is well ventilated. You'll be fine!!
