I really just thought the first time was a fluke and I can't believe its happening again. As I conceived my daughter very easily, this is all quite a shock to me. If any of you have been through this, did they do any testing? What testing can they do? Aside from a fluke, what would be an actual cause of this?

I'm so lost...any BTDT experience would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy to have found you guys

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about your losses....I've had one blighted ovum..back in December.....we've been TTC ever since with no luck so far. From what my Dr told me, it's caused by a chromosomal defect in either the egg or the sperm that causes the embryo to be defected/deformed and your body just terminates or absorbs the pregnancy early on due to the defect in chromosomes, before it even becomes a fetus. Sorry I'm not much help....My dr did also say that his wife, has had 2 blighted ovum miscarriages....and they have 5 healthy children together as well.....again, sorry for your losses.

I lurk up here occasionally to see how everyone (from the loss boards) is doing, although I never really posted here. I am sorry for your losses, but just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone. I conceived DS without any problems (not trying, not preventing). After him, I had 2 b/o's and like you thought the first was a fluke. I considered testing, but decided against having it done because as Heather said, I understood it to be a chromosomal defect. I got p/g again my first cycle after my last m/c and now have a beautiful DD. If you want to know more about testing, you might want to stop by the Recurrent Loss Board and someone there might be able to help as many of them have had testing done and it might give you some ideas as to what to ask your doctor about.
