My doc & midwife have been having me try to wait this out and m/c naturally, but its just not happening. The first time I m/c (in January) by 8 weeks I spotted for 1/2 day and then the hardcore m/c kicked in and I was done bleeding in 7 days. But this time I've bled a little here, a little there, but its just not getting done and I already would be 9 1/2 weeks and I just can't take it anymore.

The doc gave me cytotec which I'm supposed to insert 4 pills vaginally tonight and they gave me pain pills for the contractions.

They really feel that although cytotec has its risks and it would be great to m/c on my own, that D&C carries a wider variety of risks so the cytotec is the safer way to go, but I'm just wondering if any of you can tell me your experience with it.

At this rate on my own, I'll probably be bleeding on and off for the next month and I just can't sit here "waiting to miscarry" any longer...

Just popping in here to tell you that I have took it. I found out I had a blighted ovum at 7 weeks and was told that I would miscarry anyday, but after 2 weeks went by they did another U/s to make sure and gave me the cytotec to induce the m/c. I had an option to do a D&C but my RE said that there are less risk taking the cytotec. It wasn't fun, but I am glad I didn't have to do a D&C. I took it orally. I took two( i think 2 pills, can't remember) does four hours apart and that did the trick. All I was given was tylenol 3, which really didn't work to well for the pain, hopefully you have something a little stronger....

They gave me Darvocet for the pain, which I've never taken and I hope it doesn't make me too loopy or sick as I have a very active toddler to chase.

Coop, how long were you in pain for? How long did you bleed? How long after taking it did you ovulate again? If I take it at bedtime, how long before it kicks in do you think--will I just bleed like crazy immediately? I'm happy to finally be ending this, even if its not on the terms I'd hoped for, but I'm a bit nervous as its uncharted territory for me.

When I m/c naturally last time, if I counted my first day of bleeding as CD1, I O'd on CD24, so I'm curious to see how speeding up the bleeding process effects that.

Thanks for the support guys---I sure hope this is the last time I have to do this, as two losses, in a row within 5 months just sucks big time. My little girl would be a great big sister and would have so much fun with a sibling

ETA: Strangely enough, as I was sitting on the phone a bit ago discussing with my friend that I was finally giving in and taking the cytotec tonight, I started gushing all over and apparently the m/c is underway. Now I'm sort of confused as I'd like to have it over with asap so on one hand I'd like to still take the cytotec, but on the other hand things seem to be indicating that they could happen naturally and swiftly. I guess I have a lot of thinking to do before bedtime, eh?

After I took the first dose I starting cramping and has a little bleeding within an hour, however I didn't pass the sac and parts of the lining until about 6 hours later. I also passed clots for the next day or so. I didn't stop bleeding for about 12 days, but the worse was the first 12 hours after taking and I think I o3d around cd 23 or so. I never O regularly....I hope you are not into much pain....sorry you have to go through this
