Hey girls, since I havent Od yet this cycle, i was thinking of going out today and buying some OPKs to try this cycle..do they work well, or are they inaccurate alot?? Ill prolly just go to target (because if i ordered them they might not get here in time), but does anyone have a suggestion of what kind is good or anything?? Also, can they be taken at anytime, or are they like a pg test and have better results with FMU?? I hope I dont sounds too stupid, ive just never used them...do you think they are worth the money??I appreciate your feedback, any help or advise is appreciated...thanks girls!!

I liked them, they helped me figure out my cycles, which turned out to be very regular but it was nice to know anyway! I like the Answer Brand, the only thing with them is it does not say on the stick which is the test and which is the control line, you have to look at their diagram. I also tried the dollar store variety and found that they are not as sensitive as Answer brand is. They tell you in the little pamphlet that comes with what times are best for testing, I want to say between 9 am and 5 pm???? They tell you too to always test at the same time of the day, but I didn't always.
Hope that helps! Good luck!!

Actually they recommend not taking an OPK with FMU because you could have a concentrated amount of LH in your system, and cause a false positive. I took mine around 10 or 11:00 and then again around 5:00 in the evening. I was using 2 a day because I think one cycle I actually missed my surge.
I think that different people have had different luck with the brands of OPK's, but I'll tell you, I only got a strong obvious positive using Answer OPK's, got them at Wal-Mart, they are pretty cheap. I even ended up doing a side by side comparison thread...not sure where it's at....in TTC somewhere....back in May.....I used an ANSWER one, an internet cheapie on, a Dollar Tree one, and a Clear Blue easy one...and none of them were as obvious as the Answer. The internet ones never gave me a clear positive at all.
And if it's any consolation....I got my BFP that cycle! I O'd later than I had the cycle before, so had I not been using the OPK's I might have missed it. It's definitely worth it if you want to know exactly what is going on with your body I think.
***Here, I looked up my post with comparison pics of OPK's...the pics are a little blurry but I think you can get the general idea that none of the others are as dark as the control lines...
Not all OPK's are created equal

Thank you girls soo much, I think ill get the answer ones since they seem to be the best...now I know you said you can get the answer ones at wal-mart, but do you know if they sell them at most places?? Like if i went to target do you think they'd have them there?? I could always go to both places if target didnt have them, just thought id ask, do you remember how many were in the pack and how much it was by any chance?? Also, how exactly do they work..they arent like a pg test where if you get 2 lines your ovulating and if you get one line your not right? Its more like...if the test line is AS DARK as the control line thats your ovulation day, right??...thanks so much, please keep everything crossed for us this cycle!!!

for the Answer ones you get 7 in a pack for like $11 I think. I don't know about Target, we don't have one here, although one is supposed to be being built soon. And yes, you should be seeing 2 lines, but the test line has to be as dark or darker than the control line to be considered "positive". This does not mean that you ovulated, but that your LH surge has been detected and that you *should* ovulate within the next 12 - 36 hours. At least I think that's the time frame!

Gotcha, thank you!!! Ok so without sounding stupid... if the test line is lighter than the control line, it basically means nothing right because the test line has to be equal or greater to the control line to be positive? Im going to save the tests i take so i can compare them each day and see if they are getting darker...hopefully ill "O" soon, but its hard to know because the last few cycles my "O" day has ranged between cd17 one cycle and cd27 another...guess we will just wait and see...im so excited to be using OPK's thought, im hoping they will give us success!! Thanks for all your help.

What do you girls think?? We are going to keep BDing no matter what, but this is my first OPK, I took it tonight at 6:15pm (sorry if they are a little blury)...???
I know its a little lighter than the control line, but do you think that the fact that there is a good line there could mean by surge is going to happen soon?? Or does that line mean absolutly nothing?? lol (man, wouldnt it be nice if that was a pg test!!)

I'd have to say that is a negative. My test lines usually look exactly the same from day to day until I get my surge, but for some ladies the test line gets progressively darker until it matches the control line. Good luck!!I'd have to say that is a negative. My tests were always a little weird. Sometimes they'd even get lighter again before they'd get darker..but some people do have them just get progressively darker. Just keep testing!
