WEIRD OPK TEST

So I have been taking OPK's for a few days now and this morning it was really dark BUT NOT as dark as the control line. I decided to take one when I got home from work at 6pm and there was barely a line there. ***?????
I thought it would be darker. Can't you take an OPK anytime? What should I think of this?

I just started using OPK's this cycle, so im no pro, but from what ive learned...since it was darker and went lighter, you may have caught the end of your surge...so id say get BDing just incase...you may ovulate in the next day or two..OR did you eat or drink alot before taking the test at 6pm? ive heard that can effect the test, and also, did you hold your urine for at least 4 hours before taking it?? i think your supposed to....HTH's a little, good luck!!
