Ok girls, I was just playing around looking at some stuff today and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to figure out your due date...i know dr's usually take it from the day of your last period but, if the baby wasnt even concieved yet, wouldnt the baby only be as many weeks as its been since it was concieved, like around your ovulation day?? For example...if its been 3 weeks and 4 days since your last period...but only 2 weeks since you've ovulated...would you be 3 weeks and 4 days pregnant or technically only 2 weeks pregnant??? I know they say that pregnancy is like 40 weeks..but your not technically pg until you ovulate...wow, i hope this makes sense, im so confused LOL..like i was thinking about the tickers that say how far along the baby is and if you put 3 weeks and 4 days (due to your lmp) wouldnt that be wrong? if the baby was only concieved 2 weeks ago ( its been 2 weeks since ovulation), wouldnt the baby only be 2 weeks developed?? Are you confused yet? LOL...ok so i just thought id ask and maybe someone could help me here...thanks girls.

Its really kind of silly the way they do it but they do calculate the due date from the first day of your last period, so even if you arent' PG for 2 whole weeks, according to the doctor you are---and they wonder why such a low percentage of women actually deliver on their due date!!! I know that with my first pregnancy I counted the days from my last period and because I was temping at the time, I counted from the day that we conceived (pretty sure when that was, we had gone to a formal ball with friends and had a good time!!! ahahahhaah maybe we need to do that again!!) so I had both the "official" due date and the actual "age" of the baby.

So when they calcuate the due date, just look and add on 2 more weeks because that is probably more likely than the date the doctor gives!

Ok so can we use my lmp and my ovulation day for example...since i dont have a normal 28 day cycle with ovulation on cd14...take a look at my chart...if i were to be pg this cycle, what would my edd be??? Another reason im wondering this is because when i do get pg i want to be able to read about my babys development each week...and if they go by my lmp that would be like saying my baby is 2 weeks more developed than it really is and id be reading 2 weeks ahead of where the baby accually is developed to..kwim???

Based on what I know from the way my doc calculated it, if you went by the date of your LMP your due date should be around April 15th (happy tax day--the next year you'll have a deduction!!) if you calculate it from your O date, you would be due on April 29th. Its roughly 40 weeks from LMP to EDD. American Pregnancy Association has a due date calculator that gives you how far along you should be, of course it is based on your LMP but it will give you a rough idea.

And yeah you don't want to be reading about what your baby should be doing when the poor kid is like, hey I'm two weeks behind, don't start pushing me yet!! ahahhahaahha and we wonder why kids are stressed out.

Ok I hope I dont confuse you when I say this lol or myself!

Ok so the DR will tell you you are say 38 weeks pregnant but what you dont ever hear them say is although you are 38 weeks along the baby's or babies gestation age is 36 weeks. So that is taken into considereation I guess thats just the easiest way to do it! The way most DR calculate you due date is by taking the first day of your LMP and subtracting 3 months from it then adding 7 days. (Just in case you are wondering) I always found that those online due date calculators were off from my actual due date. I wish I could be more help lol
