Ladies, my question is:

Why do doc's suggest an every other day bd approach. Do sperm really need that 24 hour period? When I was younger and bd every night days the spermies never got tired. Okay, I wasn't trying to get pg, but it was never an issue.

Now that I am trying to get pg, doc says bd every other night and DH thinks that every other night is insane. BTW DH is much younger than me, so he is still in that bd every night era..... the more the better. I am in the "Can I go to sleep now" stage. LOL.

Just asking because inquiring minds and all that jazz. Today I feel that O'ing is coming soon and I bd last night. I want to bd again tonight but I am worried about the "tired spermies". I can't believe I just wrote that.

I think they say that you should BD every other day if you don't know when you O...so you are sure to stand a chance of pregnancy. If you know when you O...BD as much as possible starting 5 days before O and then on O day and the day after O. Studies have shown sperm can live 5 days under the right conditions. So... BD..BD...BD

My man is older than me...so BDing that much just about kills him

I know this is like TMI. But I know the last time I was pregnant we had bd everyday for like 2 months. I couldn't pinpoint my O'ing. I know its tiredsome but just like Bobbie said, bd almost everyday right before and after O'ing. I wish I had the energy to do it everyday but I'm too tired now.

Bd'ing every other day is supposed to help by having more sperm to release, therefore giving the egg a better chance at being fertilized. Men actually produce sperm about 2 - 3 (can't remember if it was 2 or 3) months before they are ever released. They have quite a way to travel before they are in a position to be released, from the testicles up and over the bladder, where the tubes connect with a few differend glands that produce the seminal fluid, then back down. Since it only takes one sperm to fertilize an egg, I really think it all boils down to what you want to do. Good luck!!!

Well, I always wondered why they said every other day. And one of my girlfriends said that her doctor put other limits on it too like only so many times in a certain time period. Strange. I guess i would have thought the more BD-ing the better!!! I think DH thinks that after we've had to wait almost 4 weeks to start up again but by the time we are at the tail end of our "schedule" he's too pooped to participate. We've actually made concessions and started BD-ing whenever we got a chance and were awake. And he can't, well let's say, indulge in self pleasure either. Not that most guys want to after what we put them through!!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAH but that is a HUGE no no. Waste not, want not.
