okay, I'm finally to the point of putting color on the walls - WOOHOO!!!!! For those of you that are new, we gutted most of the downstairs of our house so this is all start from scratch.

I wanted to go with the "country house" look. i LOVE www.thecountryhouse.com!!!!!!!

Anyway - this is my living room (so far). I love the red (the north wall, opposite our HUGE window)

here's where it changes red to yellow (the other 3 walls I wanted yellow) Yes I still have the painter's tape up!

Okay, here's the yellow up close:

And in case you're wondering, here's the stamps i used:

OKAY - here's where I need opinions - I only went with 2 shades of the yellow and 2 more shades of yellow for the stamps instead of my original intention of 3 on the wall and 1 of the stamp. I was going to go one color lighter yet on the walls and then only the dark color for the stamp, but I didn't like the way it turned out so I did it the other way. I do notice the colors look different in the different photos. Weird. Oh, and here's my border - the camera made the yellow look much brighter, but the yellow does actually mesh well with the border:

What do you think? Is it too bright? Too dark? I am open to any and all suggestions, the painter's tape stays up until I make up my mind!

Anne I love the colors especially the RED The effects of the stamping looks great. So many people overdo it ...it's perfect. I personally don't like the border, but my style is more contemporary. I can't wait to see it when it's all done. Are you using crown molding to finish it off? What color is the trim going to be?

I will be putting up the 1" cove molding instead of crown molding, oak stained with cherry stain. We're putting up old-style trim, actually very close to the original woodwork, just not caked with paint and filled with thousands of nail holes! We did try to salvage the old stuff, but it had like 30 nail holes per 6 feet piece. We're actually making the mopboards ourselves bc I couldn't find anything I liked. They will match what we had. Basically take a 1x6 and put a 45 deg. angle on the top edge, but bring it out a little bit so the top of the board is still flat. Then one line of beading routed about 1/2" below the angle.

Sorry Bobbie, but the whole room will have sheep in it! My mom had sheep pictures all over in our living room growing up and I loved it. I even have a couple of those pictures. And I have the stuffed sheep she made, too. DH thinks I'm weird, but he DID agree to the border! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! OMG, I should take a picture of all the sheep that are going in that room!

I am not too sure about the leaf pattern in the yellow yet. DH likes it in the red, but not in the yellow, says they look like hearts, so I'll probably look around for a different stamp to use. I love paint, so easy to change!

I still have no idea what I want to do for curtains - well, I know what style I want, just not certain on the color or the pattern, what's up there now is temporary just so we have something there. I'm sure I'll end up making the curtains.
