I just had 2 miscarriages in a row and as I was crying again last night, my husband told me something the OB had said the first time, and I guess I wasn't listening.

He told me that she had said some women go on bcp for one month immediately after the miscarriage to jump start their cycle and then try to get pregnant after that. Have any of you ever heard of this and does it work?????

I didn't right away and my cycle was a complete mess so my doctor put me on them for 3 months to regulate everything. I think it would be a good idea so that you can save yourself all that frustration.

First off I am so sorry about your loss. I'm not sure how much advice I have for you, but I can give you some hope. Your situation is very dear to my heart, last August I miscarried triplets and I was absolutely devestated. I, unlike you was told to go on bcp right after to avoid getting pregnant right away. I was told that if I got pregnant right away there would beno chance for the baby to survive, the doctor told me I had to wait atleast 3-4 months. It was hard for me to accept but I did as she reccommended and just a little under a year later and I am 20 weeks pregnant. So all I want you to know is that it will get better, though you will always have that loss with you, I dont think you ever forget, but you will be able to get pregnant in time. Wishing you all the best

I am so sorry for your losses.

I have heard of that before but my doctor just told me to wait one cycle. He didn't put me on BC...so I am not sure if it works.....

Sorry wish I could be of more help.

first I'm sooo sorry for your lossess, I don't have much advice but, that is how I got pregnant, was the same month I went off b/c, the dr. didn't tell me to wait and dosen't think getting pregnant right away had anything to do with my m/c. Just not a healthy pregnancy. so it might be just what you need to get things moving so to speak, they say you haave a bum rush of eggs going off the pill. I've herad it said that people have more of a chance of twins right ofter b/c. hope it all works out and let us know how it's going

My doctor told me they usually tell people to wait a cycle because there is a possibility your lining won't be thick enough to support a pregnancy.

But, he also said the main reason they tell patients this is to spare you the disappointment of a BFN following so soon to the m/c - in other words, purely psychological.

Because, if your lining isn't thick enough you simply won't conceive. So there is nothing to lose by trying, physically.

He said, definitely wait until you have your first regular AF visit, then try. But you can't try 2w after your m/c.

BUT, I don't know about the b/c. I'm going on it one month before my IVF, but it's the first time I've been advised to take it, and I don't know the reasoning. I go on Desonex after my next cycle.

I am very sorry for your double losses in a row! That is an awful thing to go through. Unfortunately I share that experience. Be good to yourself and DH ok? Lots of hugs ~ Lisa

Some docs will tell you to go on BC if you lost later in your pg to regulate your cycles. I was told to when I lost at nine weeks but I never did because I wanted my body to regulate itself and it did after two months. My doc wanted me on BC for three months so it was actually quicker not to take the BC. The choice is yours and nobody can choose for you. Just do whatever you are more comfortable with. Either way your body will get back to normal soon, don't worry.
