Wouldn't you only use them if you have low progesterone? I am not sure why else you would use them. Can you explain?

Hi there....I used prometrium during my pregnancy before my miscarriage due to low levels of progesterone, my RE prescribed them. I have read that if you know you have low levels of progesterone it helps to take them right at ovulation. But...when I asked my RE they said that if your body doesn't need it it's like pouring a cup of salt in the ocean...it won't make a difference. The clomid I am taking has brought my progesterone levels up, otherwise I would be looking at the supplements too.

the reason I was asking is, I was told my levels may have been a problem, and I am not too keen on taking just anything a dr. hands out. I am a sissy when I read about side effects....the cream supposedly has NO side effects whatsoever....just doing a little research for myself. According to the website, the cream will boost progesterone until the placenta takes over....just waned to know if anyone else has used this.

I have heard good things about the cream as well and if your levels are low it is worth trying out. I had really bad side affects with the prometrium, worse than any side effects I've had from Clomid. Sounds like the cream may be the best bet! Good luck!

I was maybe around 6 weeks along when I started taking progesterone cream. My doctor checked my progesterone and it was 8 and it should have been at least 15. She put me on Prochieve cream. But I guess it was not a viable pregnancy and in this case the progesterone didn't help me.

I'm trying to figure out right now what I want to do when I start TTC again as far as taking the progesterone. Maybe I should get my progesterone level checked again? My luteal phase tends to be a little short, so I think I want to take the progesterone if it can help. It's the natural cream which seems to have less side effects.

The doctor said I could start taking it again once I got pregnant. I asked if I could take it after ovulation each month and she said I could if I wanted. But I don't know enough about it to know if I need to?
