i hope I don't sound stupid but I have a couple of questions about clomid. My doctor said that it could be a option for us but since I don't know much about it I declined. i saw on another post that a mommy was taking it for only 5 days. After the 5 days then what? Do you have to wait for AF then take it again the next month? I really don't know much about it because when the doctor mentioned it I wasn't really trying to conceive. Now I am seriously ttc and need advice about my options.
I just started taking Clomid in July and took it for 3 cycles. My doctor had me take it cycle days 3-7, but I know some doctors recommend days 5-9. I was prescribed it due to low progesterone at cycle day 23...before Clomid my progesterone was 6 on cd 23, but when on clomid it was 24, 19 and 16. My doctor only prescribed it for three months and said if I didn't get pregnant we would take a break off of it. You do just take it for the five days and are supposed to ovulate 5-10 days after your last pill. My doctor followed up with a progesterone blood test at 7 days past ovulation (I have been using OPK's). So, unfortunately I have been getting BFN's and just starting the clomid each cycle at third day of AF. I know that my doctor said it has a long half life and can stay in your system for awhile. I'm now on a break this cycle and will resume it next cycle with IUI if I am still not pregnant. Good luck!!
I don't know much about Clomid so I will be waiting for info from the others too My DR hasn't even discussed meds yet
