Hi girls, I had my d&c on Monday and everything went well except now I have a UTI My re didn't visit me after the surgery so I am unsure if he found anything. I am not sure when I can ttc again and if the surgery will mess my cycles up. Could anyone offer any advice as to when it would be safe to do this. Thanks again for your help girls

aaaaaw sweetie I am sorry

I don't have any experience with a d & c, but I am sure some of the ladies here can offer advice.
as for ttc, usually they say wait 1-3 cycles, but it varies since we all heal differently, physically and emotionally.
Take care & Drink lots of water for that UTI....I hate those !!

Dee

Thanks Dee. I'm sorry if I sound so eager to ttc again but I feel like 8 months have been waisted by my old re for not doing anything when I asked him to. I am 40 and I feel like every month is a bonus for me to ttc. Thanks so much for your reply it really helps to know you girls are here for support

Glad your d&c is over though I'm sorry you had to have one.

As for ttc after d&c, doctors advice varies, but its better to wait until you get AF before you start ttc'ing, that way it will be easier to chart/tell when you o. There are people who o before they get their first AF, but giving your body and spirit time to heal is probably a good idea.

Lily,
I had a D&C a little over a year ago for a molar preg. My surgeon (whom I adore) told us to wait for 1-2 weeks to even BD again to lesson the chance of any infection. She also told me, with most D&Cs you should wait for at least 1 normal cycle before you TTC. An infection can hurt future chances of conceiving & conceiving again before you are healed can lead to yet another miscarrage. I've lost 3 pregs & I understand the desire to TTC, but we're all looking for a healthy preg. Personally, I'd rather wait 1 or 2 cycles than go through an additional m/c, but that's your call. Good luck!
Mandy

Thanks Mandy, you are right. I am going to wait 1 or 2 cycles before I try again. I would hate to get an infection. I've also had a message on my phone that my re wants to talk to me and my results are in. I hope there's nothing to worry about. He's going to call me back.

Thanks Dee. I just got a call from my re and he said that he removed a large polyp sorry(tmi). Hopefully this will be the end of my problems and I can move ahead. I am now looking forward in a month or 2 to ttc.

Lily, I had a D&C last Oct. Every doctor choses different of when they want you to wait before TTC again. Mine told me 1-3 cycles. Mine also said to not have sex for 2 weeks because it can cause an infection because everything is still open and sensitive. We started TTC again after the first cycle. But its up to you when you are comfortable enought to start trying again. I had to go back in after the 2 weeks for a pap to make sure they got everything and that everything was healing. I got pg the 2nd cycle after the D&C and I lost that one to but I think that was because I didnt wait long enough. Everyone is different. Just take it easy and I hate to say this but exspect bleeding for about a 1-2 weeks. Then AF should arrive anywhere from 4-8 weeks. That was the longest 40 days for me. Wishing you lots of luck and rest up. We're here whenever you want to talk.
