So the good news is yes I am pg according to the urine sample and the cervical check.

Bad news is they did an u/s to see where I am and just to check (since I had a recent m/c and a little spotting this time), well the ultra sound only shows a gestational sac. They couldn't see anything else.

My dr said it's one of two things:
1. I am just really early
2. It's not viable

I go back on the 29th for another u/s. Right now I'm emotionally hanging by a thread. I hate feeling so weak and sad. I came back to the office tonight after my appt to get on JM (no home computer right now and I feel too guilty pulling my dd Xmas laptop out again!). I just can't face going home to dd and dh and pretend to be strong and happy and optimistic. I feel pretty miserable.

Awe Sweetie,
I hate when dr's do this kind of thing to us. You can't tell me that they can't give you more information, if nothing more than to settle your feelings. It's not right to leave you hanging like that. What date did you start your period or did they give you and EDD? You would think they should be able to tell you how far along by the size of the sac and then just out right tell you that your too early to see anything instead of leaving you unsettled that it might not be viable. That's ridiculous, sorry but I just feel for you right now!!

hun I am so sorry you are going thru this!!!
How far along are you? Dr's will give you differing opinions!!! I had 1 dr tell me that at 5 1/2 weeks that it was too early to see anything and another dr tell me (well, many months later) that if you couldn't see anything by 5 1/2 weeks there was definitely something wrong. Which dr is right, I have no idea.

I hope at your next u/s you see alot more than a sac and maybe a heartbeat already!!!

Thanks ladies.
Actually my dr. was very vague, all she would say is that judging from the u/s all she could determine at this point is that I am "very early". She said she wasn't ready to determine an EDD till my next u/s to see what shows/doesn't show.
They did draw blood to do a beta/hcg count that I will get results on Thursday.

I just can't stand that I will have to think about if I am growing a baby or not for over 2 more weeks. I think tomorrow I will call again and see if there is any way I can get in before the 29th. My dr. said I could come back in a week from today and there should be something but the front desk didn't have anything open. Think I will try to push for an earlier appt.

Thanks for listening....I had to pull my dd Xmas laptop out AGAIN, because I just can't stay away from JM, especially when I am feeling like this! Thanks ladies, you are the best!

Melissa!!!!!!

Don't feel bad hun!!! You ARE pregnant!!!! The baby is just too teeny tiny to be seen right now. Don't feel down! When you go in to see your lil bean in a week or 2 weeks, it'll be waving at you!!

I know it's easier said than done, but please don't worry about your lil one. He/she is growing as fast as it's lil body can.

Sending lots of great ultrasound pic dust!!!

Melissa,
My doc is always telling me that they can't see anything definitive in an u/s until the beta hcg is over 5000. Even if you can't get the u/s, will they draw your beta & progesterone regularly? It should double (ish) every 48 hours, so if they can draw your hcg again Thursday that would give you an idea of what your hormone levels are & how fast they're climbing.
Good luck & sending you lots of sticky
Mandy

Melissa....

I seriously think it's just too early. I wish Dr's would just not say anything if they aren't going to be able to give a straight answer.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that Bobbie. Doctors can be so insensitive and alarmist. Please try not to worry - judging from when you got your bfp you ARE early. So it is normal to just see a sac. The doctor should have measured you anyway and given you an estimate of your due date. You are pregnant. Sometimes going to the doc so early is a blessing and a curse because we know it is normal not to see anything until you are around 6 weeks or so, but because of our past experiences we want some assurances before then. HCG levels double every 48-72 hours, so that is the best indicator at this stage.

I know I;ve said it before, but you guys are just awesome! My dh last night pretty much was saying the same thing, it's just too early and as of right now I am pg so I should just let nature take its course.

Well I called the dr. office this morning and was able to get my next u/s appt for next Wed the 21st! So now I just have to wait 1 week to see what's happening!

My last period started on Oct. 2 and ended on the 6th. However my cycles can be anywhere from 30-45 days, they've always been all over the place but never 28 days. The dr. office of course goes by your LMP and assumes a 28 day cycle when you first go in so that would have indicated I was 6 weeks exactly at my appt. yesterday. I told the dr that I believe I am 5 weeks. In her defense she warned me that with the u/s she didn't want me to worry if we didn't see anything because I am so early and if I am only 5 weeks there won't be much to see. I just was really hoping my gut feeling was wrong and that I was 6 weeks and I would see the lil bean and maybe even a heart beat...wishful thinking and probably a little foolish on my part.

So now I wait, but at least it's only for a week (the day before Thanksgiving)!

I will now just sit back and enjoy being pg and believe with all my might that everything will turn out ok.

Hang in there girlie! I'm glad you got an earlier appt, and it really sounds like you are right on track if you're only 5w. I'm sure next time you go in you'll see your little bean in there!

OMG!!!! OKAY, HOLD THE PHONES!!!

The same EXACT thing happened to me, went in at like 5.5 weeks but according to LMP, I was like 6.5 weeks and the only thing they could see was the gestational sac. Doc told me things did NOT look good and to prepare for a mc, BUT just 1 week later........and we had a hb of 151!!!!

Do not even think anymore about this, you are just too early. Especially with you saying you can have a 45 day cycle, totally makes sense.....

I don't think there's anything to worry about Melissa!!! If you Google 5 week ultrasound pics, there's barely anything there! That's what prepared me the most! Knowing I probably wouldn't see anything.

Everything is going be fine!!! I can't wait to hear the update next week!!!
