My dr. office called and said my count was 2274 which is in the normal range for 5+ weeks. They are calling me tomorrow to let me know if they want me to come in and have it tested again (to check for rising) or just wait till my u/s on Wed. and see what shows up. I am all for going in tomorrow for more blood work so that by Monday I would know if it was increasing...or should I be patient and wait for Wed. u/s which ultimately is the true answer to my question,....am I growing a baby or not!!! I want to do both, blood work and the u/s, is that being too neurotic, be honest!

YAY for your HCG counts!!!! That is great news.

I personally would go in for blood work also. I think that most women here would seeing that we've all been through a loss and are all a bit paranoid now

I am glad you're numbers are right on hon !!!

I think it's up to you what you want to have done.....personally, this time around, my new dr. did not even check my hcg's...and you know what? I felt much better....I was not nearly as stressed out....those numbers in my opinion can make you nuts...the range is just insane.... BUT like I said, it's up to you!

Hi Melissa,

I agree with Dee, my pregnancy was a lot less stressful when I did not know my HCG levels. It was assuring at first, but then I became preoccupied with my levels, are they doubling?, am I in normal range?, why are they going up so fast?, etc. However, I think for my next pregnancy, I will get a couple done at first, just to make sure we are all good and then stop.

I think you should do whatever will make you feel good though. Does DH have an opinion?

Good to hear from you Melissa!! Sounds like your levels are great!! I wouldn't worry but I would do whatever makes you feel better. I'm sure you will get to see your little bean on Wednesday, I'm just sad that I won't be here to see the pictures. (That's assuming you will be posting pictures. )

Hope is all is well and that your feeling better about things!

Cheers,

I agree with the others - I get so obsessed with hcg #s that my doctor wouldn't order them for me this time. I'd try to hang on until the u/s on Wednesday.

Well judging from the responses here and dh and my own feelings, I think I will wait for the u/s Wednesday. I get too obsessed with the number game and that's not going to do my stress level any good. I just need to be happy that my current count is well within range of 5wks, the first u\s showed the gestational sac where it should be, and my bb's are still sore!

Ok so from today till Wednesday (appt is at 1:30) I will be quiet about all this......consider this thread closed until further notice

Those #'s sound great - good luck on Wednesday!!! As for me, I'd get the beta done too, but I have to be careful with my history, even though we are going with IVF.

Good luck on Wednesday Melissa!!!! I can't wait to see pics of your lil bean!!!!

As for the hCG test.....I would personally go get it done, just because I'd be so flipping paranoid! Of course, I wouldn't ask for the numbers, because then you just go searching for what's "normal". You don't need that added stress right now, soooo...DON'T GET IT!!!

I'll be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to read your update on Wednesday!!!

Your numbers sound great Melissa!! Just from my own personal experience (and I'm not going to go into that) the numbers really don't mean all that much. You're so right in that what you really want to see is the baby in the sac, and knowing if your numbers are doubling or not, isn't going to tell you that. It is SO easy to obsess over all the numbers, when it really doesn't always mean something one way or another! However, all of this is just my personal opinion. I just think you should do whatever will help you to relax as much as possible, and just try to enjoy each day you are pregnant!! I know everything will be just fine come Wednesday!!
