ok, so today I got a call from the hospital that my dr. sent a referral to.....I KNOW that certain things have to be checked out because of my age & diabetes..BUT......first of all, this hospital is almost 2 hours away from me...
my first appt is 12/11 for the counseling, then 12/21 for an NT scan....

My only gripe is....I have been diabetic for 8 yrs. I control it with diet,(insulin during pregnancy only) my averages are in the NON diabetic range without insulin , I went to "counseling" with my last pregnancy at another hospital....now I have to do this again...so someone can go over the food groups, tell me to drink juice when my blood sugar is low.... & basically tell me everything I already know!!!...... I have explained this over and over and OVER.....why do I have to go through this again???? I know it is a small price to pay, but it is a PAIN!
for you BTDT moms ,anyone else ever HAVE to go through this when they already Did it??

thanks for listening ladies ...

Here Dee where i am, we only do that once. when we are pregnant we have to go see the diabetic doctor just as much as the baby dr. Thats so they both know where we are in the pregnancy. With jaiden he was 11 pounds at birth. and it was my diabetic doctor to say to the baby doctor PULL him out asap! hes to big and the sugars are going bonkers.

But i know here they DONT make you take the course again. Thats what i dont understand why they are making you do that again. Mabey talk to your OB and just ask him/her if u have to.

so far i have only been through that once, i have the meter and all the info, i know the dieticians like to see you throughout your pregnancy, but i don't think i will have to repeat the course...just kind of check in with them. i don't mind the check in but i think i will decline the course, but the hospital is less than 10 min from my house so to pop in and show them my #'s won't be too big of a deal.
i am not diabetic, i had gd, but i know my fasting #'s are just a touch too high, the others are pretty well controlled with diet, but i know once i am pregnant all that will change. i think they have me diagnosed as insulin resistant.

My cousin that delivered in April had to go through what Brandy mentioned. Having to see both a baby doctor and diabetic doctor. She said it was a huge hassle. Doctor appointments all over the place! In the end, it was her diabetic doctor that saw that her blood pressure kept rising during an appointment and sent her up to triage. She had an emergency c-section that same night.

I hope you're able to get it all fixed up so you don't have to go through it all again.

However, it might benefit you as well. I dunno...I'm torn! And it's not even me!!!

We support you no matter what you decide! I hope the decision is easy for you!

It is such a pain!
last year, they adjusted my insulin by phone when I called if my numbers were too high....I have Everything from last year, all the books, pamphlets, I even have 4 meters for God's sake! and started myself on the insulin this time as soon as I got that bfp...I knew I would have to..and my dr. said that was excellent....i think part of the problem is, I dont want to be treated like I am newly diagnosed and don't know what I am doing...like I said its been 8 yrs....I even started keeping my food & glucose jounals again on my own when I got the bfp.....its just one more thing I guess...lol..

thank you for listening to my ramblings! I just want them to leave me alone til my water breaks!! LOL
